This is a guided meditation for practice number six,

Clean up the messes.

Take a moment to settle into your chair or your cushion.

Sense your energy shifting from whatever you were doing before this moment to just being here right now.

You can start by closing your eyes and turning your awareness inward,

Scanning the body now and just noticing.

Are there any sensations calling your attention?

You can name those.

Are there any emotions present?

Just noticing.

Any thoughts crossing the mind?

Taking note of those as well.

Allowing everything to be just as it is.

This meditation will focus on the practice of forgiveness.

It's important to remember that forgiveness is just that,

A practice.

Some things are harder to forgive than others.

But as we stand in our own power we commit to revisiting forgiveness as a practice.

And as we work on forgiveness practice we make space for shift and for a new way of interacting.

As you gently hold your awareness on your breath I'd like for you to call to mind a friend or family member who you have a resentment towards.

It can be a small resentment or a big resentment but let it feel like something that's workable.

Since now the ways in which you have been hurt by this other person.

Saying to them,

I now remember the ways that you have hurt me.

I have carried this pain in my heart for far too long.

I am ready to offer you forgiveness.

Holding this person's image in your mind's eye and repeating these words.

I am ready to offer you my forgiveness.

I forgive you.

I forgive you.

Notice how the space of just saying these words shifts something.

You may ask yourself,

What is being right in this relationship costing me?

If you release the need to be right,

Is there a shift?

Continue sensing this person's presence.

And from time to time internally whispering the words,

I forgive you.

And now coming back to the image of the person in your mind's eye,

Take a moment to ask them for forgiveness.

Repeating these words,

I ask you for your forgiveness.

I ask you for your forgiveness.

Sensing here any resistance you might have in being the one to ask someone for forgiveness.

Noticing the resistance there,

Your need to feel right,

Just getting really curious about it.

Slowly beginning to call your awareness back into the body and notice what shift.

You can gently open your eyes.

Namaste.
