Hi,
This is Amy,
And thank you for joining me for this meditation on humility.
Begin by getting settled into a comfortable position and breathing deeply into the belly,
Relaxing the jaw,
Relaxing your neck and shoulders,
Being at ease in your physical body.
And bring to mind some beautiful place in nature.
It could be a grassy meadow,
A high mountaintop,
On a beach.
This beautiful place can be one that you know or one that you imagine,
Or a combination of both.
And settle yourself there comfortably,
Enjoying the expansiveness of the sky,
The wonderful scents in the air.
And bring to mind some skill or aspect of yourself that you're really good at.
And consider the idea that this ability to do whatever it is you're particularly good at is a gift from the Divine Source,
From the Creator,
From God,
Whatever word you'd like to use.
And that though perhaps you have practiced to hone this skill or this gift,
Or spent time learning about it,
It really is a gift from some greater aspect than self.
And as you sit in this beautiful environment,
Completely at ease,
Contemplating this gift of yours that you have that's wonderful,
Consider how it can be of service,
Or it is of service to others.
Being humble doesn't mean honoring and owning this gift that is yours.
It means recognizing that the gift is there to be of service to others,
And that perhaps it was provided to you when you came into this life.
Consider the idea that all people have some sort of special skill or gift to share with others.
Even people we find to be difficult have something to offer to the world if they simply let it shine,
And know that another part of humility is the willingness to let others let their gifts shine,
Even if you may not care for it.
There's no need for you to prove them right or wrong.
Yours is simply to be the best you you can be,
To be content with who you are in the world and how you show up,
And to know that this gift that is yours is a spark,
Is an idea,
Is an essence from something greater than self.
And for a few more moments,
Enjoy the beauty of this space that you've created for yourself.
Enjoy reveling in the thing that you do very well,
And know that you have no need to prove it to anyone,
To show it off,
But that by simply being the best you that you can be,
People that are meant to notice this gift will see it.
And release the imagery of this beautiful space,
Release any contemplation of this gift that is so uniquely yours,
And bring your awareness back into the body and to the breath,
To where you sit now.
And know that to be humble is not to hide,
But to be of the best service possible to others.
And let's bring this meditation to a close.
And enjoy this sense of quiet humility for the rest of your day.
