This is a meditation on working with emotions,
Especially strong emotions.
So closing your eyes and you might remember an emotion you had recently or maybe there's one that's here now.
Noticing this emotion and picturing this emotion like a storm.
Emotions are a lot like storms inside.
This might be a small storm or a big storm.
But noticing with a storm,
The first thing is that you actually don't need to do anything about it.
There's often nothing we can do.
It's just being aware that it's here and you just let the storm be.
You let it be present in your awareness.
So no matter what emotion you're dealing with,
Anger,
Grief,
Fear,
Your awareness itself is always bigger than that storm.
And that's the first important thing to remember.
Awareness itself is bigger than the storm of the emotion.
And just to feel that if you can.
And as you're seeing this emotion like a storm,
Realize that there are outer edges to every storm.
There's the outside of the storm,
This blue sky that holds even the biggest storm because a storm always has blue sky at the edges.
So see if even in the middle of this storm of emotion,
You can feel and be aware of the blue sky that holds it,
The spaciousness and outer edges that are bigger than this strong emotion.
There's a you outside the storm that's not affected by it,
That is never touched by the storm.
See if you can feel that.
And often with strong emotions,
We get pulled back in and that's okay.
Just knowing that you can pendulate from the spacious outer edges where the storm is not,
Then you might get pulled back into the emotion.
Then you can go back to the blue sky that surrounds the storm.
The awareness you that is never the storm,
Then you might get pulled back in,
Then you can go back out to the edges.
You can do this back and forth,
Over and over again,
Going from the inside of the storm to the outside,
From the turbulence to the calm outer edges.
They're both you right now.
And like with all storms,
Knowing this storm will vanish as well,
The clouds will eventually dissipate,
Whatever the tornado or snowstorm will eventually dissipate,
And you'll be back to blue sky,
Your true nature.
Even when you feel like losing it or your mind feels like it's going crazy or your emotions feel uncontrollable,
There's always this place you can find outside the storm that's never moving,
Never changing,
Never affected by the storm.
And when you can remember this and do this meditation,
It can be a great gift.
It can bring you back to sanity.
It can bring you back to peace,
Not as a negation of the emotions,
But an and perspective,
The strong emotions and the outside where nothing's happening.
That place of calm sky that everything will eventually return to is also you here now.
In this way,
You won't ever be fooled by thinking that a strong emotion can destroy you or last forever or is never ending,
Because you'll know how to go to that space outside the storm.
You can know it right now,
Then you can always come back to it.
It's always here for you.
It's always here for you,
And eventually more and more you'll just be resting in this blue sky mind.
Storms will become less and less.
They'll last less long.
They'll be less intense.
And more and more you'll just be resting in this empty awareness,
Blue sky mind,
Knowing that as who you are,
And the storms will be just visitors occasionally.
This is my wish for you to know your empty blue sky nature all the time.
