Hello,
This is Alonzo,
Also known as the Life Lama,
And I'd like to welcome you to this guided meditation.
This meditation introduces the powerful 5-5 method,
A simple daily practice to build gratitude,
Awareness,
And inner calm.
In this meditation,
You will reflect on five things you're grateful for during your day,
And you'll notice five beautiful moments from your day.
It will help you train your mind to shift from stress to presence.
This meditation helps reduce anxiety,
Increase mindfulness,
And cultivate a deeper appreciation for life as it is.
So,
Find a comfortable position.
You can sit upright in a chair or rest on a cushion.
Allow your spine to be tall but not rigid,
Hands resting gently.
If it feels natural,
Softly close your eyes.
Now take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath through your nose.
And gently blow it out through your mouth.
Again,
Slow,
Deep breath through your nose and out through the mouth.
Let the body settle.
Nothing to force,
Nothing to control.
Just arrive here and now.
We live in a world that constantly pulls our attention outward.
Notifications,
News,
Responsibilities,
Worry about tomorrow,
Replays of yesterday.
And in all of that movement,
We begin to overlook something very simple.
And that's what's already here.
Not because it's not there,
But because we're no longer looking.
There's a quiet truth in a Buddhist teaching.
What we cultivate grows.
If we continually focus on what's missing,
What's wrong,
What needs to be fixed,
That becomes our experience of life.
But if we gently train the mind to notice what's already good,
Already beautiful,
Something begins to shift.
Not because life suddenly became perfect,
But because we are no longer blind to it.
The five-five method is a simple way to return.
Five moments of gratitude and five moments of beauty.
Not to escape life,
But to finally see it.
So again,
Take a slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and out through the mouth.
Let your breath return to its natural rhythm.
Now bring your attention to that breath.
Just noticing it.
No need to change it.
If the mind wanders,
That's okay.
Gently return.
Now begin to bring to mind five things you're grateful for today.
They don't need to be big.
In fact,
The smaller,
The better.
A conversation,
A meal,
Your breath,
The ability to walk,
A moment of rest.
Let each one arise slowly.
As each one appears,
Just feel it.
No need to force emotion.
Just acknowledge it.
Now think of five small things that you're grateful for today.
Now gently shift.
Bring to mind five things you noticed today that were beautiful.
Something you saw,
Something you heard,
Something you felt.
Maybe sunlight through a window,
A smile,
The sound of the wind,
A quiet moment.
Again,
Let each one come naturally and simply noticed.
Now let go of the counting.
Let go of the effort.
Just sit.
Notice how the mind feels.
Notice the space.
Bring your awareness back to the breath.
In.
Gently become aware of your body,
The room,
The moment.
As you move through your day,
Today and every day,
Try this.
At any moment,
Pause and ask yourself,
What is one thing right now that I can be grateful for?
And then,
What is one thing right now that is beautiful?
Just one.
That's all it takes.
And just by noticing,
You'll find that at the end of every day,
It will be easy to compile a list of five things you're grateful for and five things that were beautiful.
Keep in mind,
The goal is not the list.
The goal is just to habituate you into seeing.
Thank you so much for taking the time to meditate with me.
And please feel free to come back to this meditation until it has become a habit for you to notice five things to be grateful for and five things of beauty.
Thank you again.
