In this 15-minute guided meditation, we explore the effortless rhythms of nature. Just as our breath flows, our heart beats, and day turns to night without our control, so too do thoughts arise naturally. Using imagery of rivers and skies, we recognize that thoughts are part of the same natural flow—appearing, moving, and fading. Instead of trying to control them, we allow ourselves to simply observe, releasing the urge to resist. By aligning with this natural rhythm, we stop letting thoughts control us, embracing life as it unfolds moment by moment.

Hello,

My name is Alonzo Davis,

Also known as the Life Lama,

And I'd like to welcome you to this meditation.

Let's begin by finding a comfortable seat.

Please sit with your spine straight,

Your shoulders relaxed,

And your hands resting naturally.

Now close your eyes softly,

Inviting a general awareness of your body and mind in this moment.

Feeling each inhale fill you with calm,

And each exhale releasing any tension.

Settle into the natural rhythm of your breath,

Allowing it to flow just as it is.

Don't try to control it.

This meditation is about recognizing that like the breath,

Much of life flows naturally.

There's nothing to fix,

Nothing to do,

Only awareness.

Just take a moment to consider just how many things in life happen without any effort.

Notice your breath,

It flows in and out without you needing to do anything.

Your heart beats in its own rhythms,

Keeping you alive without asking for your direction.

All around us,

Life unfolds without our help.

Day turns to night,

Flowers bloom,

Seasons change.

Each of these is part of the natural rhythm of existence,

Effortlessly unfolding.

Bring your awareness to this natural ease,

And when you hear the sound of the bell,

I want you to reflect on how life flows effortlessly.

You'll have a minute to explore.

Notice how,

Just as with the breath and heartbeat,

Nature flows without our control.

Everything comes and goes in its own time.

Now let's turn to thoughts.

Just as the river flows,

Clouds drift across the sky,

And stars emerge at night,

Thoughts come and go in our mind.

They're part of the same natural rhythm as everything else in nature.

We don't need to try to stop them or control them.

Thoughts arrive and fade like waves on a shore.

When you hear the bell,

Bring awareness to your thoughts.

Watching them is part of nature's flow.

Allow yourself a minute to observe them without judgment,

Seeing how they come and go like clouds drifting by.

Recognize how thoughts are like waves or drifting clouds,

Appearing,

Moving,

And dissolving on their own.

Just as you don't need to control the river's flow,

You don't need to control thoughts.

Let them come,

Let them go.

Finally,

Let's reflect on how,

When we try to control or cling to thoughts,

We step out of the natural rhythm of life.

Instead of flowing with the present,

We create tension.

We get caught in trying to fix or change what is already part of the natural order.

As you hear the bell,

Take a moment to sit quietly with your thoughts.

Allowing them to pass as naturally as the movement of the sky or the flow of a river.

Let go of any need to control them.

Embrace the awareness that just as everything in nature moves in its rhythm,

So do your thoughts.

You'll have one minute for this reflection.

When we release the need to control our thoughts,

We stop them from controlling us.

They've become just another part of life's rhythms,

Coming and going all on their own.

As we come to the end of this meditation,

Remember that just as breath flows,

Hearts beat and rivers run,

Thoughts arise and dissolve.

You are not your thoughts,

Nor are you here to control them.

They're part of an ever-changing flow of life.

By observing thoughts without attachment,

You live in alignment with the natural rhythm,

Embracing life as it unfolds in each moment.

Allow yourself to rest in this awareness,

Knowing you're part of the universal flow,

Both a doer and a witness.

Take a few deep breaths now,

Feeling the ease of simply being.

When you're ready,

Gently bring your awareness back,

Open your eyes,

And carry this sense of natural flow into your day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen.

My thoughts can sometimes get the better of me. I'm now going to look at them without judgement which is honestly so much healthier. Thank you for sharing this meditation. 🙏
