Hello,
This is Alonzo,
Also known as the Life Llama,
And I'd like to welcome you to this talk entitled The Universe Alive in You.
Most of us walk around feeling like small beings inside a massive universe.
We imagine ourselves as tiny dots on a spinning planet.
We're trying to stay afloat in something too big to understand.
But what if that's all backwards?
What if you're not a small life inside the universe?
What if the universe is alive in you?
Breathing,
Thinking,
Learning,
Evolving through your awareness.
This isn't poetry,
And it isn't metaphor.
This is the deepest truth that we have somehow forgotten.
Think about this.
Every element in your body,
Carbon,
Calcium,
Iron,
They were all forged in the collapse of ancient stars.
Not one atom in you was born here.
Your body is borrowed from the cosmos.
Your breath is borrowed from the trees.
Your warmth is borrowed from the sun.
Your consciousness is borrowed from something even larger,
Something that existed long before you existed.
When we begin to understand this,
Our entire relationship with life changes.
You stop feeling separate.
You stop feeling small.
You stop feeling like a visitor,
And you begin to understand yourself as a vital expression of the universe's own unfolding.
Modern physicists says the universe has been around for 13.
8 billion years,
Turning energy into matter,
Matter into life,
And life into self-awareness.
If that's true,
Then you're the awareness.
Your ability to notice this moment is the universe noticing itself.
Alan Watts says we are appenditures to which the universe looks at itself.
Carl Sagan said we are the way the universe or the cosmos knows itself.
Different traditions,
One realization.
Consciousness is cosmic.
Awareness is universal.
And you are the place where it's all happening.
When you close your eyes and watch your breath,
You are watching the same rhythm that explains the galaxies.
When you observe a thought rise and fall,
You are watching the same impermanence that shapes entire worlds.
When you feel compassion,
You experience the universe evolving toward unity through your heart.
Your inner world is not separate from the cosmos.
It is the cosmos.
Becoming self-aware one moment at a time.
From a Buddhist view,
The idea of self is a misunderstanding.
There is no solid me living in the world.
There is only interconnected life expressing itself through this body,
This mind,
And this moment.
Dependent origination tells us nothing exists independently.
Nothing is separate.
Everything is part of something else.
So when you think I'm alone,
Or I'm small,
Or my life doesn't matter,
You're missing the truth.
You are a temporary expression of infinite causes and conditions.
You are the meeting points of galaxies,
Elements,
Ancestors,
Karma,
And consciousness.
All of it happening now.
You're not a drop in the ocean.
You are the entire ocean expressed as a single drop.
When you understand that the universe is alive in you,
Your suffering begins to shift.
Your purpose becomes clearer.
And your purpose is to let the universe express its goodness through you.
Your pain becomes meaningful.
It's part of the universe learning compassion.
Your decisions matter because they are decisions the universe is making through you,
Through your awareness.
Your kindness matters because it's a cosmic evolution taking place in your actions.
And your awakening matters because when one being becomes more conscious,
The whole universe becomes more conscious.
Here's a simple practice.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed or insignificant,
Pause and say,
This breath is not mine.
It is the universe breathing through me.
And then inhale slowly.
This body is not mine.
It's the universe taking shape as me.
Exhale slowly.
This awareness is not mine.
It's the universe becoming aware.
Let this dissolve the small self,
I should say.
Let this reconnect you with the whole.
Just try this for a day or a week and watch how your perspective shifts.
Your life stops feeling like something you're surviving,
And it starts feeling like something sacred that you're participating in.
So remember,
You are not alive in the universe.
The universe is alive in you.
It thinks as you.
It feels as you.
It learns through you.
It expands through your awareness.
It evolves through your compassion.
It awakens through your presence.
Live with this knowing.
Carry it into every breath,
Every interaction,
Every choice.
And the next time you doubt yourself,
Remind yourself,
You're not small.
You are the universe awake,
Breathing,
And experiencing itself as you.
Thank you for taking the time to listen,
And please look out for the corresponding guided meditation on this same subject.
Again,
Thank you.
Namaste.
