What if you are not alive in the universe — but the universe is alive within you? This guided meditation invites you to gently experience that truth through breath, body awareness, and spacious presence. Rooted in Buddhist insight and supported by modern understanding of interconnection, this practice helps you feel your place in the cosmos not as an idea, but as a lived experience. As you settle into stillness, you’ll explore awareness as something vast and shared, the body as an expression of the universe, and the breath as a rhythm that connects all life. There is nothing to force or achieve — only to notice, soften, and allow. This meditation is ideal for grounding, calming the nervous system, easing feelings of separation, and reconnecting with a sense of belonging and wholeness. No prior meditation experience is needed. This session pairs beautifully with the teaching talk The Universe Alive in You, allowing you to both understand and directly experience this insight.

Hello,

This is Alonzo,

Also known as the Life Lama,

And I'd like to welcome you to this guided meditation.

Find a posture that feels grounded,

Supported,

And open.

Let your hands rest softly.

Let your breath fall into its natural rhythm.

Let your awareness begin to settle,

Not forcing,

Not controlling,

Simply arriving.

Today,

We're going to explore a truth that is both ancient and timeless.

That truth is,

You are not alive in the universe.

The universe is alive in you.

Take a few seconds and let those words set gently in your mind.

Feel the weight of your body.

Feel the support beneath you.

Feel the gentle pull of gravity,

The same force that holds planets in orbit,

The same force keeping you rooted here,

Right now.

Now,

Bring your awareness to your feet,

Your legs,

Your hips,

Your spine,

Your shoulders,

And your face.

Let each part soften as if the universe were relaxing into itself.

Sit with that a few moments.

Now,

Bring your attention to the breath,

A simple inhale,

A simple exhale,

But only this time,

Look deeper.

This breath you're taking is a billion years old.

It once passed through forests,

Oceans,

And mountains.

It has traveled through countless forms of life.

And now,

The universe breathes in you.

Just follow the breath as if you're to a cosmic tide,

In and out,

Gathering and expanding,

Just like the galaxies.

Sit with your breath for a moment.

As you breathe,

Become aware of the space inside your body.

Not just the physical space,

But the space of awareness,

Vast,

Open,

Luminous.

The same laws that shape galaxies shape your thoughts.

The same energy that forms stars pulses in your heart.

Let the space inside you feel wide,

Unbound,

Quiet,

And infinite.

You're not looking into the universe.

You're looking out from it.

Just breathe.

Now,

Imagine your body,

Not as a solid object,

But as a constellation.

Billions of cells like tiny stars.

Every atom foraged in ancient supernovae.

Every particle vibrating with the hum of creation.

Feel this.

Your body is stardust,

Reassembled into a form that can breathe,

Love,

And awaken.

The universe is not out there.

It is here,

And it's experiencing itself through you.

Just breathe.

I'd like for you to gently bring this question into awareness.

If the universe is alive in me,

What is it trying to express today?

Is it peace,

Curiosity,

Healing,

Compassion,

Strength,

Stillness?

Let the question hang softly in the air.

You don't need an answer.

You let the universe respond in its own way,

Through sensation,

Intuition,

Breath,

Or silence.

Now,

Just return to breathing.

Slowly return to the feeling of your breath,

The rise,

The fall.

Return to the feeling of your body,

The weight,

The warmth.

Return to the knowing that you are not separate.

You are a living expression of the cosmos,

Aware of itself through you.

Let this truth fill your chest like light,

Soft,

Warm,

Quiet.

Sit with your breathing.

As you prepare to close this meditation,

Place one hand gently on your heart.

Feel the beat.

The rhythm is not yours.

It's the rhythm of the universe learning how to love itself through a human life.

When you're ready,

Take a slow,

Deep breath,

And let this truth travel with you into the rest of your day.

You are not alive in the universe.

The universe is alive in you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to meditate with me.

Namaste.
