Greetings.
Today we're diving into a practical exercise that's designed to help you reconnect with and listen to your emotional body.
This is a short but powerful practice that you can use at any time whether you feel overwhelmed,
Disconnected,
Or in need of some grounding.
In today's exercise,
I'll guide you through tuning into the physical sensations that often accompany our emotions.
This practice will help you recognize patterns and bring awareness to the subtle messages that your body may be holding on to.
This is your time,
A moment for you to pause and reconnect and simply just be with you.
So I encourage you to find a comfortable seat or if you're comfortable lying down,
Whichever preference,
Somewhere where you can relax and be uninterrupted for a few minutes.
Let's begin.
Begin by taking a deep breath in and let go of any tension you're carrying as it rests in your body.
Fill your breath as it flows in and out.
Now,
Gently anchoring you to this present moment,
I invite you to gently close your eyes or rest your gaze towards the floor and begin to tune into the rhythm of your breath as it's naturally flowing.
Notice its rise on the inhale and fall on the exhale,
Simply observing.
With your next inhale,
Feel the air filling in your lungs.
The expansion of your chest and your belly.
And as you exhale,
Releasing any tension or any stress.
Continue breathing naturally as I guide you through this exercise.
Bring your awareness to the top of your head.
Notice any sensations there,
Tingling,
Warm,
Tension,
Or maybe there's nothing at all.
Allow your awareness to drift down,
Scanning slowly through your face,
Your jaw,
Your neck.
Notice if there's any tension or tightness in these places.
As you continue to breathe,
Let your awareness drop down into your shoulders.
Notice any heaviness there.
There's any tension or any tightness that seems to be resting in your shoulder blades.
Move your attention further down to your chest.
Take a moment to really feel the area around your heart.
Notice any sensations here.
There may be lightness,
There may be heaviness,
There may be tingling,
There may be warmth,
There may be a chill,
Maybe it's a sense of openness,
Or maybe today it feels closed off and tight.
Whatever you find,
Continue to follow your breath,
Creating space for whatever is resting in your chest.
Now that you've settled into your body,
Ask yourself,
What am I feeling right now?
Allow whatever comes up to be there without judgment.
The emotion may be clear.
It may be sadness,
It may be fear,
It may be anxiety.
Joy,
Frustration.
The emotion may just be a sense of calm.
It could be a mix of emotions.
Or perhaps a feeling that can't quite be named.
Whatever comes up,
Allow your observer to be aware.
Resisting the urge to label as right,
Wrong,
Good,
Bad.
Now,
Present yourself with the question.
Where do I feel this emotion or these emotions in my body?
Allow your awareness to drift to that area.
Maybe in your chest,
Stomach,
Throat,
Hands,
Legs.
Wherever it shows up,
Gently focus on that spot.
Take a deep breath in,
Directing your inhale to that space,
Giving it attention,
Awareness.
And as you exhale,
Imagine softening into the sensation.
I invite you to go a little deeper with this question.
If this sensation could speak to you,
What would it be saying?
What message does it hold for you?
The message may be clear,
Like slow down.
Or I'm here for you.
Or it's okay to let go.
Whatever comes up,
Listen with openness and compassion.
Taking a few more deep breaths,
Allowing these messages to settle in.
Allowing yourself to feel whatever arises without any need to change your altar.
Acknowledging it,
Letting your body know that you're here and you're listening.
And now,
Let's take a few deep breaths together.
On the inhale,
Filling our lungs completely.
And exhaling,
Letting go of anything you no longer need.
Inhale deeply through the nose,
Filling up,
Filling the expansion of your belly,
The rise of your chest.
Releasing on the exhale.
Inhale,
Stomach rises,
Expanding.
And exhale,
Letting go.
One more time with a deep inhale.
Filling yourself to capacity because you deserve to be full and whole.
And exhaling,
Anything that no longer serves you can no longer stay in this body.
Gently bring your awareness back to the room.
Begin to wiggle your fingers,
Toes.
And slowly open your gaze,
Taking this moment to notice how you feel.
This is a practice of tuning in to your emotional body.
And it's something that you can use at any time that you need.
Our emotions are here to be felt and experienced.
They're not to be ignored because they will pack a bag and they will live exactly where you felt them today.
Our emotions are a way of our body speaking to us.
It's the language of our body.
It's asking us to pay attention.
It's asking us to honor what's happening now in the present.
So the more we're in tune with it and the more present we are with it,
The more we can be full and whole and abundant and infinite.
Thank you so much for joining me with this exercise today.
I hope it brings you a sense of peace or connection or just a renewed awareness of your body's wisdom.
Till next time,
Take great care of yourself.
And remember,
Your body is holding way more wisdom than you may realize.
Time to go home.
