You may come to this work of spiritual growth yearning to manifest a new life.
But the deeper work is asking,
What is this desire revealing about the self I am ready to recover?
Because you see,
Desire can be tricky.
Because it evokes so many different reactions in us.
Especially if you're on a spiritual path,
It could be easy to judge a strong yearning as ego,
Attachment,
Or selfishness.
Or sometimes we might swing the other way and try to force our desires into reality as fast as possible.
But maybe your first move is to do neither.
Maybe the first move.
Is to sit with that desire long enough.
To ask what it is trying to show you.
And that's where we enter from today.
Desire starts with some kind of outcome or tangible result that we want.
But it doesn't end there.
You may think you want the new relationship,
The more money.
The massive audience for your creative work.
Or some new exciting life chapter.
And maybe you do.
Maybe what you really want is practical,
Grounded,
And connected to something your life actually needs.
But underneath the actual want,
There is usually something older.
A feeling,
A state of being.
A truth waiting for you to look at.
Or a part of yourself asking to be honored.
For example,
The desire for more money may be pointing you to safety.
Peace of mind,
Or freedom.
Longing for that new love relationship.
Maybe pointing to being seen.
Giving and receiving love or a feeling of worthiness.
The desire to do meaningful work.
Maybe pointing you to expression,
Service,
Aliveness.
Or just the simple permission to stop hiding.
This is where desire becomes a mirror.
It reveals what we value,
What we are tired of tolerating,
And what part of ourselves wants to come forward.
So while the surface desire can be valid.
It stops only being about how do I manifest this thing and becomes what is this desire trying to tell me about the self I am here to remember and recover?
Let me say that again.
What is your desire trying to tell you about the self you are here to remember and recover?
So that means this becomes less about treating your desire like some target to hit or some destination to land on,
And more about treating it like a message from a deeper,
Wiser part of yourself.
So while not all of our desires are pure and are meant to be followed,
The point is they all carry information.
So what is your desire trying to point you to?
This is how desire turns into self-actualization.
So while desire starts off as ideas from the mind,
Underneath it points to a state of being.
That state of being points to an identity.
And that identity points to the part of yourself that is trying to come alive through the desire.
So now the question changes.
You are no longer asking only,
What do I want?
You are asking,
What is this desire showing me about,
Who I am ready to become more honest about?
Because if we only focus on the surface desire.
.
.
We may miss the deeper invitations.
Your desire might be trying to guide you back to the place inside you that already knows the life that only you can live,
And toward the next version of yourself you're being asked to own.
Both the beautiful part and the uncomfortable ones.
Desire is not just something for us to get or act upon.
It is really something to listen to.
You can ask what your desire represents.
You can explore the felt sense of it.
Whether it feels like pressure or truth.
You can trace its origin back in your life history.
Many desires will never see the light of day.
While others will intensify when you realize they're connected to something more alive inside you,
Something you've always sensed you were meant to become.
Those are the ones to listen to most closely.
So take a breath with me here.
And take that desire that keeps nudging you.
And state it simply.
I want Blank What do you want?
Then ask,
What do I believe this will give me?
Put your hand on your heart.
And don't stop at the tangible outcome.
Go beneath it.
Keep digging.
And let yourself see where it takes you.
And what it helps you remember.
Then ask,
What is this showing me about who I really am?
And perhaps,
Who I am really not.
Take another deep breath into your heart.
Your desire itself will not be the final answer?
It will be the breadcrumb trail back to the self.
You are looking to recover.
