If you’ve been trying to change something in your life but keep ending up in the same emotional patterns, this reflection is for you. Often, it’s not a lack of discipline or motivation — it’s an old version of us still making the choices. In this guided message, you’ll slow down, bring compassionate awareness to what’s been choosing, and create space for something new to emerge. Because sometimes the beginning of freedom is simply seeing what no longer needs to lead.

Sometimes the hardest part of change isn't knowing what to do.

It's realizing that something old is perhaps choosing for us.

Hey there,

Friend.

Thanks for being here with me today.

If you've been trying to chase something in your life and finding yourself right back in the same emotional patterns,

This is a gentle place to pause.

Because what we often call failure or a lack of discipline is rarely that at all.

It's usually something older.

Something familiar,

Still holding the reins of our life.

So let's slow things down together and create a little space.

Go ahead and let your body settle in whatever way feels natural and good for you.

No need to sit perfectly.

No need to do this right.

Just feel what life is offering you right now.

Notice the connection of the ground beneath you.

Feel the weight of your body being held and take a slow breath in and an easy breath out.

And let the breath find its own rhythm here.

Let your shoulders relax.

Let your hands be free.

And just notice the sensations of being alive right here in this moment.

We can want something deeply.

We can work toward it,

Affirm it,

And even visualize it and still feel pulled back into the same reactions,

The same choices,

The same emotional story.

And when that happens,

It's easy to turn on ourselves.

What's wrong with me?

Why can't I just change?

But what if nothing is actually wrong?

What if this isn't a motivation issue or willpower issue,

But a moment of misalignment between who you've been and who you're becoming?

So take a breath with me here as I invite you to consider which version of myself has been making my choices lately.

You don't need to answer it with words.

Just let whatever comes up to move through you,

Not as a label or judgment,

Just a feeling,

An energy,

A familiar posture inside.

The one that tries to stay safe.

The one that overthinks.

The one that knows how to survive.

Let that version be seen,

To be acknowledged.

Now gently ask yourself,

What would open up if I no longer let that version of me choose?

Don't search for an answer,

Just notice the space that appears around the question.

What would open up if I no longer let that version of me choose,

Even in the tiniest way?

Because the moment we see that an old part has been choosing for us,

We also remember something very important.

That it doesn't have to choose anymore.

Not through force or rejection,

But through awareness.

Simple,

Honest awareness.

That old version of you wasn't wrong.

It was doing its best with what it knew.

You don't need to fight it.

You only need to stop letting it lead.

Take a slow breath in,

And a soft breath out.

Sometimes the hardest part of change isn't taking the next step.

It's realizing that something old has been choosing for us.

And sometimes that realization is the beginning of newfound freedom.

Thanks for sitting with me today.

Talk to you soon.

Much love.
