Hi,
This is Theresa Conte and welcome to Day 9 of 30 Days of Gratitude to Inspire and Uplift You.
Today,
I'd like to share a quote from Henry Matisse.
He said,
There are flowers everywhere for those who want to see them.
And now,
A thought to ponder.
The mind is like a garden,
Its soil is lush and fertile.
What we plant,
Through our thoughts,
Attitudes,
And beliefs,
Are the seeds we sow.
We can grow weeds or flowers.
Our thoughts,
Attitudes,
And beliefs affect the choices we make,
The quality of our relationships,
Our emotional,
Physical,
Mental,
And spiritual health,
And our life experiences.
If you're someplace safe and private,
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position,
Close your eyes,
And take a few deep breaths.
Next,
Think of a challenging situation you've experienced over the last week or two.
It could be something related to your job,
A relationship,
Or even something you felt frustrated about within yourself.
Nothing detrimental,
Just something ordinary,
Like someone not following through on what you asked them to do,
Or something not working out the way you had hoped.
Take note of the thoughts you may be thinking about this situation.
Perhaps you'll notice judgments,
Criticisms,
Or blame.
You may also be experiencing some emotions related to the situation,
Like anger,
Frustration,
Or resentment.
It's all okay,
You're just noticing.
Be aware of any tension in your body as you contemplate this situation.
What do you notice and where?
I'll be quiet for a few moments as you play this scene out in your mind's eye.
Now take a breath or two and let that experience go.
Next,
Bring to mind a situation you feel happy about.
Again,
It could be related to your job,
A relationship,
Something you did that you feel pleased and satisfied about.
Be aware of your thoughts as you review this experience in your mind's eye and any feelings that may surface.
Take a moment to scan your body and be aware of any changes in how you feel between the two experiences.
Again,
I'll take a few moments to be quiet while you contemplate the situation.
When you're ready,
Take a breath and open your eyes.
What did you notice about this experience?
You might like to write your thoughts down in a journal and use it as a reference.
Our thoughts and beliefs are our points of view which elicit our reactions.
The good news is when we acknowledge our points of view as being points of view,
We open the field of possibilities and can experience something new.
So the next time you feel angry or upset,
Remind yourself that what you're experiencing is based on your point of view,
Which may or may not be true.
How else might you perceive the situation?
Then see what and or how your experience changes.
What's one thought or belief you can cultivate to grow a healthy garden?
Contemplate it,
Write it out,
Then live in the affirmation.
Wishing you a most wonderful day.
