Let's start with an opening meditation that will include some pranayama.
Pranayama is how we say yogic breathing practices where we're moving our life force energy,
Our prana as the breath.
Okay,
So whatever position is most comfortable in your body today,
Right now,
I happen to be sitting up on a little bit of a blanket that's folded,
But you for sure could sit in any way you would like.
As you get settled,
You can close down your eyes.
Keep settling.
Okay,
The breathing practice I wanted to share is called Chandra Vedana.
So Chandra is the moon in Sanskrit.
And the left side of the body represents the moon.
So it's the more feminine,
Softer,
Cooler aspect of the body.
And that's really what the essence of yin is as well.
So maybe you've done alternate nostril breathing.
But this is where we're going to breathe in through the left and out through the right.
And we'll take,
We'll just do with the thumb and index finger.
So inhale left.
Exhale right.
What if you have a plugged nose?
Just do your mouth.
Just seeing how smooth and even you can keep the breath flowing here.
Do three more breaths like this.
When you're finished relaxing your arm down to your lap or your leg.
Pause here for a few more breaths.
Then one more cleansing breath together,
Inhaling,
Sighing it out.
Opening your eyes.
Welcome if you've just joined.
We'll be starting to move the body around a little bit after our opening meditation.
Seeing all the different ways you can move,
Maybe even taking the head and neck.
Some circles.
