Hello and welcome to this short and powerful meditation.
The intention of this meditation is to use your own power to calm your mind and return yourself to a state of ease and relaxation.
For this meditation,
Please ensure you are in a seated position,
Spine extended,
Stretching up to the sky,
With your hands resting comfortably in your lap,
Or if you wish you can put them on your knees as long as you feel relaxed and settled.
Just take a moment and begin to notice your breath.
What is the quality right now?
How does it feel as you inhale and exhale?
How are your thoughts influencing the way that you're breathing?
Our minds can be a messy place,
Filled with so much information from the day.
Our emotions and experiences layer on top of these to create a storm of thought that can often be difficult to settle.
It's important in this meditation to not ignore the thoughts that are coming up.
So take a moment and see what thoughts are coming up for you right now.
What feelings or emotions are creating that storm in your head?
Now,
I want you to picture yourself in your mind,
Standing with your feet in the sand,
Watching a storm in front of you that isn't touching you,
But you can see it straight ahead.
Each wave that you see is one of your thoughts,
Feelings,
Or emotions.
As the waves crest,
The storm above reflects how quickly and intensely your thoughts are moving.
You are the observer of this ocean of thought.
You are the one who can see which emotions are stirring up the biggest storm.
Which experiences of the day are creating the biggest waves in your mind?
You,
Standing on the sand that's comfortable and cool,
As you watch this storm of thought in front of you.
I want you to know that you have power over this storm.
Taking a deep breath in through the nose,
Allow your body to fill with light and calm.
And as you exhale through your mouth,
Breathe into these waves,
Allowing your head to clear and the waves and storm above to calm the ease of your breath.
Again,
Deep breath in,
Letting that light and clarity fill you up.
And as you exhale through the mouth,
Those waves begin to lessen.
And the storm above begins to clear.
Deep breath in,
Your body and mind becoming clearer as you feel each and every cell light up.
And exhale,
Breathing that serenity,
That beautiful clarity into the waves that have calmed and look just like little ripples now.
Each breath you take allows your thoughts to release.
As you thank them for the purpose they served,
And let those thoughts go.
Continue on your own with this breath for a few moments,
Calming the waves before you.
You can see the power of your breath over your thoughts now.
As you look out onto water that is clear and calm,
Looks just like glass.
The storm before you has cleared up,
Revealing a beautiful sunny sky that warms your face as you turn towards the light.
Birds are chirping and you feel your feet in the sand and touch your toes to the cool,
Calm water.
You have created.
Your mind and body feel as clear and bright as this gorgeous ocean that reflects only relaxation for you.
Inhaling one more time deeply through your nose.
I want you to breathe in this moment.
Gathering up all the calm,
All the relaxation,
All the tranquility.
And exhaling,
Sealing in this space for yourself.
Knowing that you have the ability to use this to calm your thoughts at any time.
Your mind is so powerful.
You don't need to ride the waves of your thoughts.
Only to use your power to calm them and to return to your day more balanced.
Putting your arms now up overhead in prayer.
Bringing it to your third eye to see more clearly.
And bringing it to heart center.
Closing out this meditation and sealing it with love and with calm.
