Welcome to this Full Moon Meditation.
I'm Jerry,
A certified mindfulness teacher and the founder of Nishreyasa,
A holistic wellness studio based in Fort Kochi,
Kerala.
This meditation is a gentle space for emotional clearing and quiet renewal.
Across cultures and traditions,
The full moon has symbolized illumination,
A time when what has been hidden becomes visible.
It is often associated with completion,
Clarity,
And the natural cycle of release.
In this practice,
You will be guided through a simple visualization,
Sitting beside a flowing river beneath the light of the full moon.
The river represents movement,
The natural ability to let things pass.
The moonlight represents awareness,
The soft,
Steady,
And accepting.
There is nothing you need to force,
Nothing to solve,
And nothing to fix.
You are simply allowing space for anything that feels complete,
Tension,
Emotional weight,
Mental noise,
To gently move on.
Take a moment to settle into a quiet place where you won't be disturbed.
You may sit upright or lie down.
Choose a position that allows your body to feel supported and at ease for the next 20 minutes.
Allow the body to settle exactly as it is.
If you are seated,
Feel the ground beneath you.
If you are lying down,
Feel the surface supporting you.
Gently close your eyes and begin by noticing the natural rhythm of your breath.
There is no need to change it.
Just observe.
Observe the inhalation.
Observe the exhalation.
Allow the shoulders to soften,
The jaw to unclench,
And allow the tongue to rest naturally.
Relax the space behind the eyes.
Feel the weight of your body.
Feel gravity holding you.
There is nowhere else to be,
Nothing else required in this moment.
Let the breath continue in its own rhythm.
Now,
In your awareness,
Imagine yourself seated besides a slow,
Steady river.
The river moves calmly at its own pace.
You are seated on firm ground,
Stable,
Supported and safe.
The river is wide and unhurried,
Its surface smooth in some places,
Gently rippling in others.
The water moves continuously,
Carrying whatever enters it without resistance,
Without effort.
Notice the temperature of the air around you.
Perhaps hear the soft sound of the water moving.
Now,
Gently become aware of a full moon above you.
It is luminous and steady in the night sky.
Its light spreads evenly across the landscape,
Over the ground,
Over the river,
And over you.
Nothing is excluded from its light.
The moonlight begins to fall softly around your body,
Like a calm presence.
It touches the crown of your head,
Resting there gently.
You may notice the warmth,
A sense of openness,
Or perhaps very little at all.
There is no right experience.
The moonlight slowly moves downward across the forehead,
Around the eyes,
Through the cheeks,
Along the jaw.
Wherever there is tension,
The light lingers,
Softening,
Allowing,
And releasing.
The light flows down the neck,
Across the shoulders,
Through the arms,
Into the hands,
Down the chest,
Through the heart space,
Into the belly.
Let the belly soften.
The light flows further down through the hips,
The thighs,
The knees,
The calves,
All the way to the feet.
Your whole body now is bathed in soft moonlight.
As the moonlight continues to move through you,
Notice if anything feels heavy,
Tight,
Or simply complete.
It may be a thought,
An emotion,
A memory,
Or a physical sensation.
There is no need to search.
Just notice what naturally arises.
When you feel ready,
Imagine gently placing what you are ready to release into the river.
No force,
No struggle,
Just placing it into the flowing water.
Watch as the river carries it away,
Slowly,
Steadily,
And naturally.
If something else feels ready to be released,
Allow that too to find its way into the current.
Perhaps tension from the body,
Or a lingering conversation,
Expectations,
Old roles,
Fatigue,
Each time placing it gently into the river and watching it drift away.
You remain seated,
Grounded,
Supported by the earth beneath you,
Illuminated by the quiet light above.
Nothing essential is being taken from you.
Only what is ready to go,
Goes.
Now begin to bring awareness back to your physical body.
Feel the points of contact with the surface beneath you.
Notice the weight of your limbs.
Become aware of your breath again,
Steady and natural.
The river remains within you.
The quiet light remains within you.
You can return to this inner space whenever you choose.
Gently begin to move the fingers and toes.
Roll your shoulders and give yourselves a good stretch if it feels okay.
And when you are ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Thank you for practicing with me.
