You gain strength,
Courage,
And confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.
You must do the thing you think you cannot do.
I always say the fears you do not face become your limits,
But the fears you do face become your strengths.
In this meditation,
I will be taking you through a guided visualisation,
Helping you to recognise and overcome some of your own personal biggest fears.
So when you are ready,
Get into a comfortable position.
Slowly close your eyes and just start to take a few deep conscious breaths.
As you settle down into this guided visualisation meditation,
I want you to start imagining the thing you want so badly,
The thing that you truly desire.
Maybe it's something to do with your career,
Your personal life,
Your health.
Whatever it is,
Just imagine it.
Now let's change direction slightly.
I want you to imagine the worst outcome of you trying to achieve this thing that you so deeply desire.
Remember we are just observing,
So don't get too attached to this outcome.
I really just want you to imagine what you think the worst possible outcome would be of you trying to achieve this goal.
And as you imagine the situation,
Start to recognise how failing at this desire makes you feel.
What emotions or feelings does it stir up?
And once you've recognised these feelings,
I want you to start to notice where you feel it in your body.
Maybe you feel uneasy in your tummy,
Or maybe you feel tension in your shoulders and your neck.
Just really intuitively feel into your body,
Noticing where these feelings emerge.
Now I want you to focus on the area where you feel the most tension.
And with your focus on this area,
I want you to score this feeling out of 10.
10 being nothing,
10 being extreme.
Now place your hands over the area you feel the most tension and start to consciously breathe into that area.
Feeling in kindness,
Forgiveness,
Love.
Remembering that this tension doesn't mean anything.
You don't need to make it mean anything.
Just continuing to breathe in love,
Kindness,
Forgiveness into this area.
And now with every breath,
Imagine this area of tension becoming smaller and smaller.
Letting go of the tension with every exhale.
Just noticing how you feel now.
As we've played around with our fears,
I want you to start wondering how you can overcome this feeling from fear.
The answer is to dig deep into what fuels your fear.
Maybe it's shame,
Embarrassment,
Smallness.
Maybe you're scared of rejection or ridicule.
Just tapping into that emotion that fuels your fear.
Remember,
On the other side of fear and failure is success.
When we work towards something we desire,
We get to wake up every day with the excitement of working towards our desires.
And even if we do fail,
We learn,
We become stronger,
We become wiser.
We just need to remember to find joy in the journey and the process of life.
We need to stop worrying about what other people will think about us if we fail.
The truth is,
Most people don't think about us at all.
So it's about shifting our need for external validation to our need for internal happiness and fulfillment.
It's this shift that gives us freedom from our fear.
When we do things for ourselves,
We don't mind much when we fail.
We keep practicing.
We keep learning.
We keep growing until we find our own personal route to success.
But if we keep our focus on what other people will think,
We feel anxious,
We make mistakes,
We may have sleepless nights,
We stay stuck.
We let our fear of what other people will think completely cloud our vision,
Our confidence,
Our ease,
Our flow.
When we don't care about other people's opinions,
We thrive.
We feel comfortable taking risks,
Learning from our mistakes,
Being patient.
And then we are successful.
It is only a matter of time.
Slowly start to bring your awareness back into this present moment.
Noticing any sounds around you.
Noticing any feelings on your skin.
Maybe wind,
Maybe warmth or cold to close on your skin.
Notice any tastes in your mouth,
Any smells in the air.
And gently,
When you are ready,
You can open your eyes.
