We all have traits that we’re proud of, and traits that we don’t feel so confident about. Some of these traits may trigger or embarrass us, so we hide them from public view. These hidden parts are what make up our shadow self, and she longs to be heard. In the following meditation, you will be journeying into your soul to meet with your shadow self. It is important to remember not to bring any judgment with you on this journey, and to keep an open mind.

We all have traits that we're proud of and traits that we don't feel so confident about.

Some of these traits may trigger or embarrass us,

So we hide them from public view.

These hidden parts are what make up our shadow self,

And she longs to be heard.

In the following meditation,

You will be journeying into your soul to meet with your shadow self.

It is important to remember not to bring any judgment with you on this journey and to keep an open mind.

It is natural for feelings of discomfort or uneasiness to surface,

So just acknowledge these and let them go.

Our shadow may be a stranger to us now,

But in time,

And by doing this meditation consistently,

You will become more familiar and even friendly with your shadow.

And that is the goal.

So sit back,

Get comfy,

Make sure you won't be disturbed,

And let's begin.

Taking a few deep breaths to calm your nervous system and bring your body and mind into the present moment.

Bringing your attention to the center of your chest where your heart chakra resides.

I want you to imagine a beautiful door emerging in this space.

What does it look like?

What color is it?

This is the doorway into your soul.

As you begin to take a few steps towards this door,

Notice the door handle.

You reach out to open the door and you feel a warm sensation overtake your entire body.

This warmth is the vibration of your heart.

This unconditional love for yourself and all of the love that you have received in your life.

You turn the doorknob and step through.

You enter a beautiful pink room filled with healing rose quartz crystals and you immediately feel safe and at home.

As you walk through the space,

You see another doorway on the other side of the room and begin to walk towards it.

As you get closer,

You realize that it is an elevator.

You get in and press the lowest level button.

The elevator slowly begins to move,

Going down one story at a time.

With each level you go down,

It begins to get a little darker.

As you reach the bottom level,

You are now in complete darkness.

The elevator stops and the door opens.

You step outside and find that although you cannot see anything,

You instinctively know where to go.

You begin to walk towards an area that you feel pulled towards.

As you continue to walk,

Your eyes begin to adjust to the darkness and you can start to make out the outline of a figure a few steps in front of you.

You strain your eyes to see more clearly and the figure starts to become more clear.

This figure is your inner shadow.

Take a good look at her.

What does she look like?

How old is she?

Is she afraid or angry or even surprised to see you?

How does being in her presence make you feel?

As you continue to look onto your shadow self,

A feeling of compassion and love wash over you.

Your shadow can feel this too and she begins to feel more comfortable in your presence.

You reach out to her,

Take her hand and let her know that all is good.

Now is the time to get to know your shadow.

You sit down beside her and begin to ask her some questions.

Don't worry if no answers arise,

You too are still getting acquainted.

The more time you spend with her,

The easier your communication will be with her.

As you ask the following questions,

Remember not to feel any judgment,

Just love,

Compassion and understanding.

What is your name?

What are you afraid or ashamed of?

What situation or event did this feeling of shame or fear arise from?

How did it make you feel?

What decision did you make after this event?

It may have been,

I'm not worthy,

I'm not loved,

I'm not good enough,

I'm too loud or too quiet.

Just listen to your shadow and see what she has to say.

What parts of yourself did you decide to keep hidden after this event?

As you begin to soak in these answers,

You turn to your shadow self and give her a warm,

Loving embrace.

You tell her that everything is going to be okay.

That it's okay to be imperfect and to be learning.

Remind her that she is not alone.

That you are here for her now and she no longer needs to feel ashamed or afraid.

As you spend this beautiful time with your shadow self,

You repeat these words of affirmation to her.

I trust in you.

I believe in you.

I'm glad that you are in my life.

You are worthy of love.

You are enough.

You deserve to be happy.

You have a lot to offer.

You smile at your shadow and she smiles right back.

There is a feeling of unconditional love and acceptance here.

You give her one last embrace and then tell her that you will be back to visit.

You begin to walk back in the direction you came from and find yourself back at the elevator entrance.

You press the button and the door opens up.

Step in.

As the elevator begins to rise up,

It begins to get lighter and you can't help but feel a sense of bliss and peace wash over you.

You reach the top and the elevator door opens.

You step out back into the beautiful pink healing room of your heart and as you walk through this room again,

You feel a sense of bliss and unconditional love coursing through your energy field.

You begin to walk towards the door of your heart.

You turn the knob and leave this beautiful chamber knowing that you are worthy,

You are loved and you are enough.

As you close the door behind you,

You remember the wise words that were exchanged between you and your inner shadow.

Slowly begin to bring your awareness back into the room,

Starting to take deeper breaths and bringing some slight movement back into your physical body.

You can open your mouth and let out a big yawn and slowly open your eyes when you are ready.

I would recommend sitting for a few minutes to process the experience you just had.

You can do this by writing down the things that may have come up in a journal or a notebook.

By writing down this experience,

You can fully process what came up and come back to it if you decide to go deeper into a specific shadow side of yourself.
