Hello,
This is Raquel,
And today we're going to be doing a root chakra body scan.
So what is the root chakra?
A root chakra is a system in our lower body which holds our sense of security,
Safety,
And grounding.
This meditation will help you connect more deeply with your root chakra,
Focusing on lower body relaxation,
Grounding,
And security.
So begin by allowing yourself to feel comfortable and supported in your seat,
Whether this is sitting up or laying down,
Whatever is the most comfortable for you in this moment.
So first,
Just notice your natural breathing without changing it as you get comfortable.
Then we'll begin with our first breath.
So breathe in through your nose,
Counting to four.
Then breathe out through your mouth,
Counting to four,
And begin noticing how your body feels in this moment.
Again,
Breathe in through your nose,
Counting to four.
This time envision golden light coming into your body and filling you with fresh invigorating air.
Then hold it for four.
Then breathe out of your mouth,
Counting to four,
Intentionally breathing out all the stress and toxins in your body.
One last time,
Breathe in for four,
Filling your body with cool,
Fresh air,
Letting it absorb into your body.
Then hold for four.
Then breathe out your stress,
Counting to four,
Breathing out all stress,
Insecurity,
Feelings of unsafety,
Anything that's being held in your body.
Now let your body feel heavy in your seat and on the earth.
Let yourself melt into it and feel tremendous support coming up from the soft ground beneath you.
Recognize how the earth is always supporting us with giving us soil to walk on and nourish us with her beautiful fruits.
Imagine a golden light coming from the earth to nourish your body,
Starting with your feet.
How do your feet feel?
Do they feel tired or achy?
Do they feel rested?
Our feet are the sacred place in which we connect to this earth.
They are sensory and a major place in our body that absorbs as well as releases.
What is your connection with this earth and what are you absorbing from your surroundings?
Let the golden light nourish and relieve your feet.
Feel them tingling with rejuvenation.
Next,
The light moves up to your ankles.
Notice how your ankles feel.
Are they tight or sore?
Is the soreness dull or in one particular area?
The ankles in particular carry your sense of security in moving forward.
Do you feel secure as you move through life?
Now let the warm golden light rejuvenate and strengthen them.
This light will bring you security in your movement.
Take a deep breath in and breathe out in security and let the golden light move up next to your legs.
How do your legs feel?
Are they tired and heavy?
Are they restless and moving anxiously?
Or do they feel strong and supported?
Our legs are the part of our body that represents how we stand in our security.
Do you stand up for yourself and your beliefs?
Stand up for others?
Do you feel safe and secure in navigating this world?
If you don't,
The legs and the root chakra are parts of the body that can be affected.
So let's take a deep breath in,
Imagining fresh air circulating and rejuvenating your body through your legs.
Let the fresh oxygen nourish any spots in your legs that are aching or not feeling grounded with the earth.
As you breathe in,
Let the oxygen go up your body,
The golden light nourishing your legs,
Bringing warmth and healing.
Take another deep breath and this time let it run up your spine to your sit bone and expand into your seat.
How does this part of your body feel?
When you breathe out,
Imagine breathing out all the stress and sense of insecurity that has been stored in your lower body out into the ground beneath you.
Mother Earth will recycle it and be nourished by it.
Breathe in the golden light and imagine it surrounding your sit bone and your body like a pillow.
Once again,
Renew your body with fresh air from a long deep breath and take one more long breath out,
Releasing all the stress that has been stored in your lower body and in your limbs.
Okay,
So now take one more deep breath in,
Imagining all this fresh new cleansing and renewed energy swirling from the earth into your lower body and your limbs.
How is your lower body feeling in the beginning of the meditation and how are you feeling now?
Soak that in,
Allow yourself to feel secure and supported and say,
I am held and nourished in this moment.
I am held and nourished in this moment.
What can you do today to bring a greater sense of safety or security to yourself?
