Welcome to this practice on gratitude.
Allow yourself to find a comfortable seat.
And as you settle in,
Allow your eyes to begin wandering around the space,
Drifting wherever they would like to go,
Letting yourself truly arrive where you are.
And while you look around,
Perhaps you can right away begin to connect with a sense of gratitude,
Maybe by noticing a color in your space that you like,
Or noticing the shapes that the shadows make as the sun shines through the window,
Or the patterns on a wall or a door.
Can you find gratitude for anything that you can see right now?
Beginning to let the attention drift inward,
Take a moment to notice your breath gently moving your body,
And perhaps tap into your awareness of your heart and its steady rhythm.
Can you notice how effortless your existence can be when you simply let your body do the work?
And can you connect with a sense of gratitude for your body,
Its wisdom,
Its resilience?
Simply being here today is evidence of your resilience.
And perhaps now you might find yourself able to connect to a memory that you associate with gratitude.
Maybe it's something as simple as eating your favorite cereal,
Or the first time you heard your favorite song.
Perhaps it's the support of a friend,
Or a moment you were able to forget about your troubles for merely a second.
This can be a simple memory,
Or something much grander.
Notice that gratitude.
Notice what it feels like inside.
Perhaps there are sensations or images that come up.
You might even hear in your mind those lyrics to the song,
Or see the environment in your mind's eye where you were when this memory occurred.
Allow gratitude.
You might even find yourself able to allow gratitude for your personal journey.
The fact that you are still here,
On this earth,
Persevering every day.
Find that gratitude for yourself and your resilience.
You have survived this far,
And now it is simply one foot in front of the other,
Using the knowledge that you continue to amass every day.
Think about how much you have accomplished to get to this moment.
You did that.
So in this moment,
Allow yourself to be grateful for you.
To give yourself grace.
And to offer this time as a gift of encouragement and congratulations.
As you take this moment to be grateful for yourself,
Know that I am also grateful for you.
Your support on this platform,
Your example of resilience,
And the energy that you send out into the world every day.
Thank you.
I'll see you next time.
