Welcome to Pure Life Therapy and this guided mindfulness meditation for grounding.
Throughout the meditation,
You're invited to close your eyes or have a gentle gaze forward if that is comfortable for you.
Meditations can be done sitting up,
Lying down,
Or even standing.
Whatever you feel is right for you.
If at any time you find the mind is wandering,
Gently smile at yourself and simply returning the focus back to the breath or to the guidance.
Now let's begin by making sure we are comfortable.
Shifting the body in any way needed so that you feel supported.
And when you're ready,
Gently closing the eyes or gazing softly forward at an object in front of you.
Let's start by taking three deeper than normal breaths.
Inhale and on the exhale letting go of any thoughts or worries.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Shifting the body in any way needed.
Inhale.
Exhale.
Knowing you are exactly where you need to be in this moment.
Inhale.
As you exhale,
Releasing any tension or stress you may be holding on to.
With the next breath,
Directing the attention to the sensations of the body where it is.
Noticing the contact points of the body.
Observing the sensations of the feet,
The thighs,
The back,
The hands.
Observing any sensations.
Feeling the weight of the body being supported by the surface beneath you.
Allowing yourself to be supported as you relax,
Breathing in and out.
Directing the attention to the feet.
Noticing what the feet are feeling in this very moment.
Perhaps noticing temperature such as warmth or coolness.
Perhaps noticing the sensation of socks,
Shoes or bare skin.
Being curious if it feels right to you.
Wiggling the toes and observing how each toe feels next to its neighbor.
With the breath,
Releasing the focus on the feet and directing the attention to the imagination.
When you are ready,
Visualizing yourself as a majestic tree.
Picturing the spine as the sturdy trunk rooted firmly into the earth below.
As you breathe in,
Visualizing drawing energy from the earth.
As you exhale,
Releasing any tension or negativity down through the roots.
Feeling the support of the earth beneath you.
Your roots extend deep into the soil,
Anchoring you in strength and stability.
With each breath,
Imagining these roots growing,
Reaching further into the ground.
As you continue to breathe,
Visualizing the energy from the earth rising up through your roots,
Traveling into your body.
Feeling a sense of nourishment and vitality filling you,
Just like the nutrients a tree absorbs from the soil.
With each breath,
Filling yourself with nourishment and vitality.
Now bring the attention back to the feet.
They are the base of the trunk,
Firmly connected to the earth.
Feeling the stability and strength in the foundation.
As you breathe,
Sensing the energy flowing up from the earth,
Grounding you further.
Moving the awareness up to the legs.
Seeing them as the lower branches of your tree.
Feeling the solidity and support they provide.
With each breath,
Imagine these branches extending and growing,
Creating a sense of balance and harmony.
Now envision your arms as the upper branches,
Reaching towards the sky.
Feeling a gentle sway like the movement of leaves in the breeze.
You are connected to the energy above and below,
Balanced and centered.
Sensing the crown of the head as the topmost branch,
Gently reaching towards the sky.
Feeling the openness and expansiveness,
As if the branches are embracing the infinite possibilities around you.
Taking a moment to appreciate the strength and stability of your tree self.
You are grounded,
Connected,
Present.
As you continue to breathe,
Visualizing a warm and comforting sunshine surrounding your entire tree body.
This light represents your inner peace and grounding energy.
Let it fill your tree with each breath,
Creating a protective aura around you.
When you're ready,
Slowly bringing the awareness back to the physical body.
Releasing the visualization of yourself as a tree,
But knowing that you can always return to this grounding image at a moment's notice.
Trusting that the tree is a part of you.
You are grounded,
Connected,
Present.
You can carry the grounded energy of the tree with you into every day,
Knowing that you have a strong foundation to face whatever comes your way.
With the breath,
Starting to wiggle the fingers and toes.
Shifting the body in any way needed.
And when it feels right,
Gently opening the eyes.
