So I'm here to talk about balance,
And not just the physical balance,
That's important as well.
Actually,
The body is constantly rebalancing itself.
We actually have a natural tendency to find balance in homostasis.
So why is it a different story when it comes to life balance,
Work-life balance,
Balance in what's happening on a daily basis?
Well I think it's because there's two different modes.
There's the doing mode and the being mode.
And perhaps we're focusing too much on the doing mode and not so much on the being mode.
So what's the difference between these two modes?
And both are extremely essential for our lives.
The doing mode.
Lots of abstract thinking,
Concepts,
Thinking about the future,
Thinking about the past,
You're goal-orientated,
There's a sense of craving,
So you're motivated to do something.
It's great for solving lots of problems,
Of getting from point A to point B,
Of defining the project milestones,
The plan.
However,
My friends,
We're not human doings,
We are human beings.
And the being mode is mainly sensory.
There's little verbal activity.
It's not abstract,
It's concrete,
It's direct experience with what's happening.
And doing mode was focused on the future and the past,
Being mode is focused on what's here and what's now.
There's a non-judgmental element to the being mode,
There's presence,
And there's a panoramic view.
It's not just me.
And rather than having this sense of craving,
There's a sense of peace.
So finding balance is finding balance between doing and being.
So how much of your day are you doing and how much of your day are you being?
And being can be whatever just brings you in the present,
Whatever brings you joy,
Whatever puts you in the flow state.
It can be the breath,
The breath is in the present.
It can be listening to music,
Going on walks,
Whatever it is.
You know,
You can feel the being mode and you know what it's like in the doing mode.
So my tip or my challenge is for you to find balance between how much you are doing and how much you are being.
Thank you,
Human beings and not human doings.
All the best.
