Sun and Moon.

These planet meditations are designed for you to sit with the beautiful elements and life in all its glorious creation on our earth as you quiet yourself to be here right now.

So making yourself comfortable,

I invite you to softly close your eyes or keep a soft focus just in front of you.

Beginning to feel your breath flowing in and out of your lungs.

And taking a few moments here.

Becoming aware of the softness of your breath.

Feeling it entering and leaving your whole body as you simply sit or lie.

And beginning now to notice any sensations you can feel in your body.

Beginning to notice how it feels for you in this moment.

What sensations might you notice in your body right here,

Right now?

Bringing your attention to your body and gently scanning slowly down as you breathe from your head,

Neck,

Shoulders,

Chest,

Back,

Tummy,

Hips,

Thighs,

Calves.

And finally feeling into your feet,

Noticing the sensations in your feet and in your toes.

Perhaps your toes are touching you or maybe they're apart.

Whatever you notice,

Just becoming aware of these sensations with a sense of gentle curiosity.

Nothing to do about them.

Simply becoming aware of the physical sensations in your body now.

Bringing your focus into your body.

Perhaps you can sense some tingling or maybe numbness.

Perhaps there's a sense of tightness somewhere in your body.

Just breathing in and out and allowing all sensations to just be.

Bringing this kind curiosity to all you might feel.

Sensing where your body makes contact with the surface supporting you.

Perhaps your heels or calves or your shoulder blades pressing into the floor.

Whatever you sense,

Just noticing and letting be.

It's already here.

And now bringing your awareness up through your body and into your lungs.

Noticing the feeling of the air entering and leaving your lungs.

Noticing the movement of your body as it fills with air and the movement as the air leaves again.

Perhaps you can even notice the pause.

The pause on the in-breath just before you let the air go.

And the pause on the out-breath before you draw new air in.

Simply bringing awareness to your breath and your own natural ebb and flow.

Maybe noticing that your body knows what to do in every moment and with every breath.

And now bringing your awareness to the sensation of your breath on your face.

Maybe noticing the sensations on your cheeks or just below your nose or over your chin as you breathe in and as you breathe out.

What's the temperature of the air like on your face?

Is it warm or cool?

Maybe noticing any difference when you let the air go or cooler when you take in a breath.

However it is for you right now just noticing with kind curiosity.

Nothing to change,

Nothing to decide,

No rights or wrongs.

Just lying here,

Sitting here,

Supported by the ground on which you lie.

Breathing naturally and noticing what's happening for you in this moment.

And now bringing your awareness to any thoughts which may be arising.

Not striving to stop them,

They will come so letting them arrive and leave again.

As you lie here gently returning your attention to your breath,

To breathing into your body.

And now bringing your awareness to any thoughts which may be arising.

Not trying to stop them,

They will come so let them arrive,

Welcome them in and let them leave again when they are ready.

As you lie here gently returning your attention to your breath,

To breathing into your body.

And now bringing into your mind's eye the image of the sun.

Seeing this orb of light that fills our earth with warmth.

Seeing it in your mind.

Perhaps your image is of the sun just rising.

A semi-circle peeping over the horizon or a mountain top.

Or perhaps your image is of the sun at its peak.

A glow of fire hanging high,

Pulsing out its heat over our earth.

Feeding the cycles of life with its power,

Its glorious warmth,

Its rays that allow all life to continue.

Or maybe your sun's leaving for the day,

Slipping quietly down,

Steadily dropping below your view.

And knowing that as it leaves,

So will it return in the morning.

Knowing this with a calm,

Deep sense of contentment.

The pattern of the sun,

Its warmth,

Its abundant rays,

Lighting up our glorious earth.

Feeling a sense of gratitude perhaps for all it gives us each day.

And now noticing as you look at the colours of the day gently fading,

As the brightness of the sky pales and cools.

That up above,

Steady,

Waiting is the moon.

Taking its place amongst the stars in the darkening sky as the light leaves.

The brightness of the velvet sky only lit by the strength of the moon's face reflecting back to us.

Mysterious,

Cool,

Unknown yet known.

Our moon and our sun.

The cycles of our joyful earth keep turning.

And sensing now within you the cycles of your own life.

Familiar,

Unfamiliar.

Repeating patterns,

Changing patterns.

Maybe it's the cycles of your body.

Repeating,

Altering.

This cycles of the years.

Changing what was once known.

Bringing in the new.

The warmth of the sun.

The steady cool of the moon.

Feeling your place in this cosmic play.

Sensing the forces in your own body as one with the whole universal pattern of life.

And as you lie here,

Safely supported by the surface on which you rest.

Knowing that you belong in this spectacular dance of energy.

Of life.

Of love.

And sensing within you your own sun and moon.

And now,

Gently drawing away from your mind's image,

From your moon and your sun.

Focusing fully on your breath once more.

Onto the in breath and the out breath.

And simply bringing your full awareness to this moment right now.

Simply noticing your breath.

Breathing in and breathing out.

Filling your lungs with a fresh breath.

A new breath in each and every moment.

And when you hear the chime.

If you wish,

Gently open your eyes.

Wiggling your fingers and toes.

And taking a stretch in whatever way feels right for you.

Perhaps a smile.

May the strength of our sun and the calmness of our moon be with you in your coming week.

Blessings.

Followed the speed of my thoughts, faster at first, then slowing them down and going through the body scan again.
