A short meditation.
So let's get a taste of being in this moment.
Right here,
Right now.
I invite you to close your eyes,
Sitting in a comfortable position,
Dignified and upright,
But not tense.
Relax your shoulders,
Rest your hands on your lap or wherever is comfortable for you.
And bringing your attention to your feet.
Are they firmly on the floor so you can sense the ground beneath you?
And coming up to your face,
Bringing your awareness to your face.
Are you frowning,
Smiling,
Just becoming aware of your facial expression in this moment?
Perhaps using this awareness to release any tension in your eyebrows and letting them unfurl.
Is your jaw clenched?
We often carry tension in our jaw,
So try softening your lips and mouth to ease it,
If so.
Can you feel your breath flowing in and out of your nose or mouth?
Focusing your attention and awareness on your breath now,
As it travels in and out.
Is it warm or cool?
Is it different when you breathe in or when you breathe out?
Maybe you can't sense any difference.
That's fine too.
Just becoming aware as you sit here right now,
Breathing naturally and at ease.
Perhaps for the first time today,
If you've been busy,
You're focusing on your breath.
And can you now become aware your body knows what to do with your breath?
Every breath,
Every moment,
Every minute,
Hour,
Day,
Month and year.
In your own rhythm,
You pull in the air and let go of the air.
Each and every day,
From the moment you were born until the moment you leave.
And there's nothing for you to do.
Just becoming aware of your breath,
Noticing its ebb and flow as it enters and leaves your body.
And when you're ready,
I invite you to open your eyes slowly,
Perhaps gently circle your ankles and wrists.
Have a little stretch if you like and smile.
Thank you.
