In this meditation,

We will write a holiday letter to someone we love who's no longer here to celebrate the season.

Hi friends,

It's Beth,

And welcome into the space,

The special time you've set aside for yourself.

Today,

We will embark on a heartfelt meditation to connect with the memory of a loved one who has passed away.

As the holidays approach,

You might feel their absence more deeply.

Through this meditation,

We will honor them by writing a letter filled with love,

Gratitude,

And holiday spirit.

Find a comfortable position,

Either lying or seated.

Have a pen and paper or a journal nearby.

Take a deep breath in through the nose,

And slowly exhale through the mouth.

If you feel comfortable,

Close the eyes,

And let your breath guide you into a place of stillness.

Breathe in deeply.

Breathe out slowly.

As you continue to breathe,

Imagine a warm yellow light surrounding you.

This light represents love,

Comfort,

And connection to the essence of your loved one.

With each inhale,

Allow the warmth of this light to fill the heart space.

With each exhale,

Release any tension or lingering heaviness.

With each inhale,

Imagine this light growing stronger inside and outside of you,

Wrapping you in a sense of safety and peace.

Now,

Gently bring to mind the image of your loved one.

Remember their face,

Their smile,

Their energy,

The way they made you feel.

Maybe you hear their laugh.

Maybe you feel their hand in yours.

Know that this moment,

This very moment,

They are here with you,

Not in a physical sense,

But in spirit,

In love,

And in the cherished memories that you hold of your time together.

Imagine them sitting here beside you,

Listening with an open heart as you prepare to share your thoughts with them.

As you remember them,

Let your mind wander to what you would like to say.

Begin with gratitude.

What about them are you thankful for?

Perhaps it was the joy that they brought into your life.

Perhaps it was the lessons they taught you.

Perhaps it was the comfortable space that they created for both of you.

Next,

Consider this present moment.

What would you like them to know about you?

Share how you've grown.

Share what's been challenging.

Share what you've experienced and the time since they've been gone.

Finally,

Reflect on the spirit of this holiday season.

Is there a memory from a holiday past with them that makes you smile?

Did they have a favorite tradition,

A favorite dish,

Or was there simply a moment in time?

That feels extra special this time of year when you remember.

What holiday wish would you like to send to them now?

Imagine them receiving it in their heart space,

Filled with love.

Now,

Gently open your eyes and find your paper,

Pen,

Or journal.

Allow your thoughts to flow naturally as you write your letter.

Remember,

This is your time to express anything that you feel.

There is no right or wrong.

If you would rather pause and just sit in their memory for the next few moments,

That's okay too.

Take your time and know that every word you write is filled with love and connection.

If you are not finished,

Please pause the recording and come back when you have finished your letter.

Now that you have finished your letter,

Take a moment to reread it silently or aloud.

Imagine your loved one in your imagination,

Receiving your words,

Receiving your love,

Their presence warmed by your sincerity.

Invite a deep breath.

Release a full breath.

Thank them for taking this time to sit with you,

To connect with you,

And for allowing you to honor their memory in this meaningful,

Heartfelt way.

When you're ready,

Gently begin to bring yourself back into this present moment.

Deepen the breath.

Wiggle fingers and toes.

Stretch if you need to.

Slowly and softly open your eyes.

Your connection with your loved one is eternal,

And this act of writing honors that bond in a beautiful way.

May your holidays be filled with peace and the love of the memory of them and all the memories you shared.

Carry the warmth of this connection with you through your holidays and beyond.
