Hi friends,
It's Beth.
Welcome to your six-minute morning permission meditation practice.
As we sit in the freshness of a new day,
Let's take a few moments to consider the idea of where permission fits into a meditation practice or a mindfulness practice.
When I work with new students or those who have difficulty building the habit of an ongoing meditation practice,
One of the first ideas we explore together is the idea of permission.
It may sound silly as an adult to talk about giving yourself permission to do things,
But society has conditioned us to believe that taking time for ourselves,
Even if it's just six minutes for a meditation practice,
Is a selfish and egoic act.
We often believe this so deeply that it can affect our joy and peace.
For this morning practice,
I am giving you absolute permission to do whatever it is that calls to you for your morning meditation practice.
Maybe you want to rest.
Maybe you want to write a list of things that you are grateful for.
Maybe you want to sip your coffee or tea and watch the sun rise.
Most important of all,
I want you to give yourself permission to deeply explore the desire that you feel calling to you in this morning space that you have created.
For the next minute of our practice,
I invite you to consider or explore with full permission to do what it is that the heart calls you to do.
Staying in touch with what it is that you have given yourself permission to explore or indulge in for this part of your morning meditation practice.
Begin to become aware of the space around you,
The day unfolding,
The list of actions and activities that you will be a part of,
And also stay in touch with any moments where you notice you are not fully invested energetically,
Emotionally,
Or spiritually,
Because you need to explore allowing yourself the permission to be in that space.
