Hello and welcome.
Take a moment to let your body arrive.
You don't have to change anything yet.
Just notice the simple truth that you're here in this space at the end of a long day with whatever you're carrying.
If you're listening because today felt heavy or complicated or because your emotions are still close to the surface,
You're not doing anything wrong.
The quiet of night can bring everything forward and you don't have to hide any of it here.
Let your body settle a little more into the bed.
Feel the weight of your head on your pillow,
The warmth of your blankets or sheets,
The relief of being held with nothing being asked in return.
Take a slow breath in and let the exhale fall out of you in its own time.
Nothing forced or dramatic,
Just a gentle loosening.
If your mind is still busy or your chest feels tight or there's a part of you that's bracing,
That's okay.
You don't have to force those sensations away.
They're simply signs that your system has been working hard today.
See if you can soften your jaw.
Let your shoulders drop a little closer to the bed.
Unclench your belly and let gravity do some of the work for you.
There might be a part of you that's overwhelmed,
A part that's tired,
A part that's still replaying moments from the day.
You don't have to fix those parts or reason with them.
Just acknowledge them.
The way you acknowledge someone sitting close beside you who's had a long,
Difficult day.
You can even place a warm hand over your heart or your belly,
Just a gesture of presence,
A quiet,
I'm here with you,
Not to solve anything,
But just to offer companionship.
If it feels okay,
Let your breath lengthen slightly on the exhale.
A slow release,
A softening around the edges.
Feel the surface below you supporting the full weight of your body and let yourself lean into that support.
You don't have to do it all right now.
You don't have to hold yourself up.
You don't have to carry the day any longer than this moment.
If thoughts come up,
Let them drift the way lights fade when a room gets dimmer.
Not gone,
But less sharp.
Less demanding,
Less in focus.
Let the muscles around your eyes soften.
Let your tongue rest heavy in your mouth.
Let your hands relax.
You're allowed to rest even if the day was messy.
You're allowed to rest simply because you're human and you've reached the end of the day.
Feel the warmth of the blankets,
The steadiness of your breath,
The quiet around you.
Imagine a gentle dimming inside your body,
Like someone slowly lowering the lights in a room,
Not shutting anything off,
Just creating an atmosphere of calmness.
Let the day be done.
Let the body be heavy.
Let the breath be slow.
If any part of you is still holding on tightly,
You can whisper inwardly.
You don't have to keep watch right now.
You can rest too.
Allow yourself to drift towards sleep at your own pace.
No pressure.
Nothing to achieve.
Nothing to manage.
Just a gradual sinking into warmth and quiet.
And as you settle,
Know that you can return to this practice whenever you need a softer landing at night,
Whenever your system feels full,
Whenever you want a voice to keep you company as you unwind.
For now,
Let yourself drift.
Let the breath guide you towards rest.
And let sleep come when it's ready.
Good night,
My friend.
