Welcome to the pause before reacting.
Life can often pull us in many directions and our emotions can rise quickly,
Especially during stressful or busy times.
In those moments,
A pause before reacting can help us shift from impulsive responses to intentional choices.
This pause allows you to connect with patience,
Wisdom and kindness.
So just begin by finding a comfortable position.
Let your body settle.
Feel your feet grounded,
Your spine tall and your shoulders soft.
Gently close your eyes and feel your body beginning to relax.
Take a slow,
Deep breath and release your thoughts,
Letting them drift far away.
Bring your awareness into your heart center and notice a softness there.
Another beautiful breath in and this time take your breath down to your abdomen.
Relax with a deep exhale.
Again breathe in deeply and let it go.
With each exhale,
Allow yourself to release any tension and arrive fully in this moment.
Good.
Let's begin by imagining a moment when you've felt triggered.
Maybe someone said something that upset you or something didn't go as you planned.
It could be a recent experience or even something small like a frustrating interaction at work or in traffic.
Bring that moment gently into your mind as though you're watching it on a screen.
Notice what happens in your body as you recall this experience.
Do you feel tension,
A quickening of your breath or perhaps a tightening in your chest or jaw?
Simply observe without judgment.
Now imagine a different response.
Visualize yourself pausing in that moment before you react.
Take a slow deep breath in and as you exhale,
Imagine creating space between the situation and your response.
Now in this space,
You can see the moment more clearly without rushing to react.
What might you do differently in this pause?
Could you choose patience,
Understanding or perhaps simply stepping back to reflect before speaking or acting?
Let's practice this together.
I'll guide you through a short visualization.
Breathe in deeply,
Imagining a situation that might arise today or this week where you could feel triggered.
As you exhale,
Just picture yourself pausing in that moment,
Grounding yourself with a breath.
With your next inhale,
Feel your inner wisdom rising.
Exhale and let that wisdom guide your response.
Repeat this process silently,
Using your breath to anchor you.
Remember,
The pause is not about suppressing your feelings.
It's about creating a space where you can respond with clarity and intention.
So once more,
Breathe in deeply,
Imagining a situation that might arise today or this week where you could feel triggered.
And as you exhale,
Picture yourself pausing in that moment,
Grounding yourself with a breath.
With your next inhale,
Feel your inner wisdom rising.
Exhale and let that wisdom guide your response.
Wonderful.
Take a moment now to reflect.
How does it feel to pause before reacting?
What might shift in your relationships,
Your communication,
Or even within yourself if you practiced this pause more often?
Perhaps you notice a sense of empowerment or calm.
Perhaps you feel more connected to your inner wisdom,
Knowing you can respond with kindness and thoughtfulness,
Even in difficult moments.
As we bring this session to a close,
Take one last deep breath,
Inhale deeply and fully exhale.
Carry this practice with you today.
If you find yourself in a moment of stress,
Remember one pause,
One breath can create space for wisdom and compassion.
Thank yourself with gratitude for taking time for your own well-being.
May your pauses bring peace and clarity to all your interactions.
Namaste,
My friend.
