Namaste.
Alok here.
Happy to bring you this tutorial on Nadi Shodan,
Alternate nostril breath.
I found this would be one of the most profound breath work techniques to help calm the nervous system.
If you're ever feeling overwhelmed or stressed,
Trying this practice for just a few minutes can really make a big difference in your day.
The idea is that we're balancing the two sides of the brain,
The masculine and the feminine,
And bringing you into this peaceful state.
So we'll be closing off one side of the nose using the thumb or the ring finger.
And so the two ways I've seen it done are either to just do it like this or having the first two fingers at the third eye region.
The third eye,
Agnya Chakra,
Is a place of focus for this practice.
So sometimes it helps to have the two fingers there.
It's really up to you what feels more comfortable.
I'll show you with the two fingers here.
Find a nice tall spine.
Roll the shoulders back.
Make sure the elbow and the shoulders are relaxed.
Exhale all the air out through both nostrils,
And then you'll close the right side of your nose.
Inhale through the left.
Long slow deep breath the top of the inhale pause holding the breath and then switch sides so the Close off the left side with your ring finger,
Open the right,
Exhale through the right side.
Complete full exhale.
And then inhale through the right.
All the way to the top pause,
Close off the right,
Open the left and exhale fully.
So that's one round.
I say usually to practice about 10 rounds,
So really up to you how much time you have,
The longer the better.
But really the idea is that we're trying to slow down the breath,
Really focusing on exhaling all the air out and filling the lungs completely with each breath,
Going as slow as you can.
The idea is that eventually it gets to where even if you had a feather in front of your nose,
It would barely move the feather.
So very subtle.
LSD breath,
We call it long,
Slow,
And deep.
So I hope that.
