Today we'll be practicing the oceanic breath,
Otherwise known as ujjayi breath in the yogic tradition.
Let yourself arrive.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Feel the breath already moving through you.
You can lie down or stay seated,
Whatever feels more comfortable,
Or you can be relaxed.
Gently close your eyes and allow yourself this space,
A few quiet minutes just for you.
Begin breathing in and out through your nose,
Long,
Slow,
Deep breaths.
As much as you can,
Slowing down the breath without any pauses.
Now,
Slightly constrict the back of your throat,
Just enough to hear a soft whispering sound of the breath.
Just like the ocean moving through you,
Inhale,
Let the breath become rhythmic,
Like the waves rolling in and out.
Steady,
Soothing.
Now,
Inhale softness.
Exhale tension.
Inhale calm.
Exhale worry.
Inhale spaciousness.
Exhale overwhelm.
Exhale confusion.
Inhale nourishment.
Exhale depletion.
Inhale presence.
Exhale distraction.
Inhale trust.
Exhale control.
Inhale peace.
Exhale resistance.
Let your breath return to its natural flow.
Feel the stillness within.
Stay with that for a few moments.
Just breathing,
Just being.
Slowly opening your eyes,
Seeing the world refreshed,
Rejuvenated.
Carry this ocean of calm with you into the rest of your day.
