Hello,
And welcome to the session.
I invite you to take a seat,
Or lay down,
And if you like,
To close down the eyes.
And take three slow breaths,
In through the nose,
And out through the mouth.
And if you notice your body start to relax,
Just let go of any physical tension you notice arising.
Acknowledging,
And accepting,
And welcoming that space to release.
You are safe.
You are free.
It's okay to let go.
And just draw your attention to the sensation of the breath entering and leaving the nose.
Just for a moment,
Appreciate the wonder that is the breath,
Continuous,
Constant,
Beautiful,
Nourishing,
Fulfilling.
And just take another slow,
Deep breath,
In through the nose,
And out through the mouth.
And allow your mind to loosen,
To begin to open up,
To be flexible,
To start to welcome the wisdom of this session's question,
To be open to the guidance of our ancestors,
Of the muse,
Of our intuitions,
Of God,
The divine force,
Of the universe's energy,
Of whatever place,
Internal or external,
That we draw our strength from.
Just to welcome that space in,
To open ourselves up to possibility,
To positivity,
To potential.
So in a moment,
I'm going to ask you a question,
Twice,
And then we're going to sit with it for a minute,
And just allow it to percolate within us,
And unfold,
Without restrictions,
Or limitations,
Or judgements,
Or filters.
The question is,
What if you believed you would be successful?
What if you believed you would be successful?
So this question prompts us to stand for possibility,
Positivity,
To really believe in ourselves,
To step forward and take action towards a potential future that might seem out of reach,
Might seem impossible.
A lot of us approach things from a passive perspective,
From the belief that we'll be okay,
But not quite fully,
Totally living our truth,
That we'll do things and we'll be let down,
By the world,
Or by ourselves.
But if we believed we would be successful,
We would act differently.
If I knew I was going to win,
That everything would be fine,
The anxiety and the worry and the fears would just drop away,
I'd be free,
Because I knew I would be safe,
And probably with that space of freedom and tension released,
I'd begin to approach things from a better perspective.
That tension that we hold when we're worried stifles growth,
It stifles creativity.
People can tell when you're anxious,
People can tell when you're nervous.
It's transmitted through your movements,
Through your tone,
Through the words you speak or write,
Through the art you create.
But if you believed that you would be successful,
If you knew it,
You'd be confident,
And that confidence would be infectious.
We rarely follow people who don't believe in themselves,
Who don't believe in their mission,
Who don't think they're going to be successful.
But the problem comes if we want to do something,
But we don't know that we can.
I saw a quote,
Or an image rather,
That said,
So you want to do something,
And then it said,
Do it.
And then another line off that image said,
But I'm scared.
And then it said,
Then do it scared.
If you wait to feel fully confident before you act,
If you wait to believe that you just know how to do something before you do it,
Before doing it,
You'll probably be waiting forever.
Confidence,
And even motivation,
Often come after action.
Do,
Act,
And then you'll start to see and feel.
Think of anything that you've done for a long time.
Your confidence in that area would be high.
You know what to do,
You know how to do it,
So you can just do it.
But for whatever reason,
When we start something new,
We believe ourselves to needing to be fully competent and capable instantly,
Immediately.
We don't like approaching things from a white belt perspective.
I know how to do certain things,
And when I start something new,
I think I should know how to do those things as well.
But why?
Why should I know how to do those things?
Then my confidence falls,
And I stop trying.
Perhaps a better approach would be to believe that I can be successful,
That I am going to be successful.
Because by doing so,
I would be acting in a way that would lead to further success.
Because it changes your mindset.
What would a successful person do here?
Would they accept that problem,
Or would they look for solutions and alternatives and workarounds?
Would they become someone better,
Someone capable,
Someone who knows how to act and do and be in certain situations?
Would they educate themselves?
Would they take the actions?
Would they step where and when they need to step?
If you knew you were going to be successful,
You wouldn't have to justify that success to anyone.
You would just be doing things,
And your success would speak for you.
It's a bit of a paradox here.
To be successful,
You have to believe you're going to be successful before you're successful.
But if you can do that,
The world may truly be your oyster.
So I ask you.
What if you believed you'd be successful?
Well done.
This brings us to the end of the session.
At the bottom of your screen,
You'll see an option to view the classroom,
Or to ask a question.
Before moving on,
I invite you to take a moment to click through and share your insights,
To read the answers from other students,
And to hear my replies.
Remember to start your responses with Session 9,
Or to restate the question,
So we all know which one you're referring to.
This is an opportunity for deep learning,
Further introspection and insight.
So please don't miss out.
I look forward to seeing you in the next session.
This track was taken from the course Discover Your Divine Purpose.
It's out now on Insight Timer,
And available via my profile.
I invite you to join in.
