Where does it hurt in your body?

Your neck?

Your shoulder?

Your back?

It's tempting to think that the problem lies where the pain is.

Hip pain must equal a problem in your hip.

But the truth is,

The pain is often not where the real issue lies,

It's just a signal,

A symptom.

Your body is trying to tell you something.

First,

A disclaimer.

I am talking about chronic pain,

Or the type of pain that comes in cycles,

Pain that gets a little better with treatments and then comes back.

I am not talking about you stubbing your toe and then feeling pain in your toe.

In this case,

The pain is the problem.

Most of us have grown up in the care of the Western medical system.

I come from a family of doctors,

So I know it all too well.

The Western philosophy addresses only the symptom,

A pill for the pain,

A surgery for a sore back,

Physiotherapy to stretch or needle your painful traps.

Sure,

These approaches can bring temporary relief,

But often the pain returns because the root cause has not been addressed.

Eastern and holistic philosophies take a different approach.

They look deeper.

They ask why is the body holding this tension?

What patterns,

Imbalances or blocks led to this symptom?

They understand the body as an interconnected system.

Energy,

Nervous system,

Emotions,

Nutrition,

Movement,

All influencing each other.

We address the root cause of the symptom.

My online client texted me this morning.

Here's a little bit about her case.

She has a many year history of chronic neck pain and headaches.

She even had surgery in her neck to address these symptoms,

Which unfortunately made her pain worse.

It happens.

Over the past months,

I taught her how to heal her pain with movement,

Nervous system regulation,

Chakra and energy work.

Within the first week,

She was pain free for the first time in years.

This morning,

She texted me that she woke up with a sore neck.

She immediately did the simple shaking and movement practice I taught her,

Designed to release stuck energy in her body,

And the neck pain disappeared immediately.

She did not touch her neck,

She did not go and see her physio,

And her movement routine from me does not involve any neck stretching or neck movements.

So why did this work?

Because her neck is not the problem.

The pain was a sign of underlying patterns,

Blocked energy flow and nervous system dysregulation in her particular case.

By addressing the root cause,

Her symptoms resolved.

This is what I love to see.

This is true healing.

I love to empower my clients with the tools to heal themselves,

So they don't need to see me or another practitioner forever.

Now,

Where does pain come from?

It can emerge from many sources.

It depends on the person and the case,

But here are the most common I've come across in my 10 years of practice.

Number one,

Nervous system dysregulation.

Chronic stress,

Trauma,

Fight,

Flight and freeze patterns create tension that shows up as pain in particular areas of the body.

If unaddressed,

This can turn into chronic pain,

Particularly in the neck,

Traps,

Hips and lower back.

Sleep and digestion issues are also super common here.

Two,

Emotional patterns.

Unprocessed emotions like fear,

Grief and anger can manifest in the body as muscle tightness or chronic dysfunction.

For example,

Fear often shows up as tightness through the chest and throat.

Three,

Energetic blocks.

Stagnant energy or imbalanced chakras can create physical symptoms.

Balancing these points can allow the body to release and reset.

I work with a lot of chronic lower back pain online clients,

And we often work on balancing their root chakra,

The energy center that governs safety and security.

Four,

Nutrition and lifestyle.

Inflammation,

Nutrient deficiencies or lifestyle factors can predispose certain tissues to pain.

My other client breathe,

Sense your body as a whole,

An interconnected web of energy and cells.

Ask yourself,

Could this pain be related to stress,

Nutrition,

My emotions or energy flow?

Simply open your mind to these ideas.

Trust your intuition to guide you toward what might be out of balance,

Then seek help from a professional who aligns with your energy,

Whether that's me,

A traditional Chinese medicine doctor,

A hypnotherapist,

Energy healer or others.

I invite you to explore this new concept gently with curiosity.

Your body is intelligent.

Pain is its signal.

When we listen to and address the whole system rather than only the symptom,

We begin to heal deeply and sustainably.

Remember,

The pain is not necessarily where the problem is.

It's a doorway,

A message,

An invitation to look deeper.

Treat the symptom if needed,

But don't stop there.

Explore,

Listen and open your mind to the interconnected wisdom of your body.

True relief and true freedom comes from going deeper.
