This short talk is for you if you've ever felt overwhelmed in social situations,
Exhausted after being around certain people or large crowds,

Why do I feel so much more than everyone else?
Maybe you cry easily,
Not just at your own experiences,
But at movies,
The news,
Or someone else's pain.
Maybe you walk into a room and instantly feel the vibe,
Whether something feels safe,
Tense,
Warm,
Or fake.
If any of this sounds familiar,
You might be an empath.
What is an empath?
An empath is someone who doesn't just understand how others feel,
They actually feel it in their own body.
Sometimes it's so subtle,
They don't even realise it's happening.
You might be an empath if you've been told you're too sensitive or too emotional.
You can't stand violent TV shows or horror movies,
Sometimes even the news because it affects you for days,
Months,
Or even years in the future.
You leave social situations feeling drained or foggy.
You need a lot of alone time to recharge even though you love people.
You sometimes feel other people's stress,
Sadness,
Or pain as if it were your own.
You feel overwhelmed in crowds,
Bright lights,
Or loud environments.
People often come to you for advice or emotional support,
Even strangers.
You might have never put a label on it,
You might have just thought something was maybe wrong with you,
That you're too soft,
Too sensitive,
And too fragile for this world.
But here's the truth,
There is nothing wrong with you,
You're tuned in.
Being an empath simply means your nervous system and energy field are more open than most,
You're more porous,
Like a sponge,
More aware and more affected by the emotional world around you.
It's not a flaw,
It's just a different way of being.
The problem is,
Most empaths grow up without knowing their empaths,
So they learn to shame or suppress their sensitivity.
They try to toughen up,
Shut down,
Or become perfectionists,
Just to cope with a world that feels too intense.
But your sensitivity isn't the problem,
The only problem is that you were never taught how to work with it.
When you have the right tools,
Empathy becomes a superpower.
You intuitively understand what people need,
You connect on a soul level with others,
You're often more creative,
Intuitive,
Or deeply spiritual than everyone else,
And you can be a calming presence in chaotic environments.
Empaths are the healers,
Artists,
Feelers,
Space holders,
And truth tellers of the world.
But in order to thrive,
You need support,
You need grounding,
And you need energetic boundaries and expansion.
