Hi,
I am Linda Chow.
Welcome to day 1 of Sleep Well,
A 14-day program to show you how meditation can help you improve your sleep.
Whether you are a total beginner or a total pro,
If you follow along and meditate with me for 2 weeks,
You are going to find yourself falling asleep more easily and resting more deeply.
We will start by finding a comfortable seat.
I am sitting on the floor on one block.
You are welcome to join me or sit in the chair even lay down.
Just find a seat allow you to feel comfortable but still alert close your eyes.
If closing your eyes doesn't feel right,
You can gaze softly down towards the tip of your nose and let's get started.
Sleep is so important as it leaves all the shifts in our harbor.
Today we are going to be simply using our breath as a tool to focus our mind.
You will find that this type of breath meditation can organically bring us to a place of peace and ease.
I like to think of this as coming home to the breath.
Take a moment to tune out of the rest of the world and tune in to yourself.
In this quiet space,
You might gently scan through your body.
Notice any areas of tension and take a moment to allow yourself to soften.
Then start from the place of relaxation.
Relax the tops of your thigh,
Your hip flexor,
Your lower back.
Let your chest be open.
Let your breath be received into a softening belly.
Notice the natural flow of your breath as a stream of water.
Let your attention rest in the movement of your breath.
You might find something in your body specific to focus on.
Like the in flow and out flow at your nostril.
The rise and fall of the chest and belly.
Perhaps you are feeling the breath through your whole body.
Letting the breath be home base.
What happens when you relax even more fully in your breath?
Take a moment to notice your mind.
For some of us,
You might find your mind is looking into a different channel that's absolutely and perfectly ok.
That's the opportunity for mindfulness to re-arrive onto the focus of the breath.
Rising breath,
Falling breath.
And no judgement,
Simply noticing that the mind is drifted.
Stay with your breath moment to moment.
Hope you are feeling more peaceful and more at ease.
If you are ready to drive off to sleep,
Feel free to turn up.
Thank you so much for meditating with me.
Sweet dreams.
