You may use a tangible connection to the sun by taking this meditation outside, letting the sun soak you through a window or imagine this connection so please consider this as you set up and prepare for practice. We explore the energy through pranayama, visualization, sensation and awareness

Welcome to your lunar meditation to begin find a comfortable,

Restful position.

Something that you can feel relaxed in,

But also aware and mentally alert.

You may do this in bed,

On a mat,

Or anywhere else where you have your few moments to pause and tend to your mental landscape.

And take all the time you need to find your position,

Make adjustments as needed and always know that you can shift if you're feeling discomfort or pain.

As your body settles,

Notice if you can feel your energy settling.

What does that even feel like?

Bring your awareness to your breath and we will start with some pranayama.

You can either physically alter your breath or you can mentally imagine the breath flowing in this pattern.

So if you'd like to physically alter the breath to help aid in accessing this lunar or calm side of your energy,

Begin to breathe in and out through the left nostril only.

So you could use your left or right hand to close the right nostril.

Again inhaling and exhaling through the left nostril only.

Or if you would like to mentally and energetically adjust the breath,

Then just imagine visualizing the breath flowing only through the left nostril.

Or just imagine sensing the breath only flowing in and out through the left nostril.

You're only taking what is nourishing and serving to you today so there's never any pressure to do anything that isn't best for you right here right now.

The left side of the nostril is linked to the lunar side of our body.

That yin side.

That passive yielding grounded side.

And sometimes you might prefer to inhale through the left nostril and exhale through the right.

And this is because again the left side is the lunar side,

Right side is the solar side.

So you're inhaling that calming lunar energy and you're exhaling and releasing out the solar warming more active energy.

So you have multiple ways that you can engage with this pranayama and you may have to try a couple to find out what feels best to your body.

So again those options are to physically breathe in and out through the left nostril only.

You could physically inhale through the left nostril and exhale through the right using your hands on each side to block off one nostril at a time.

Or you could imagine feeling or visualizing either of those options.

We are going to take a moment of silence as you breathe and tap into this energy through the breath and through your prana.

Choose the best one that you can find today.

And remember that the best one is just the most nourishing and supportive option for yourself.

Release any physical or mental alteration of the breath and become aware of the crown of your head.

And just feel the crown of your head.

And try to keep your attention focused here,

Even if there is no feeling or sensation of this area.

Even if it's quiet.

Lunar energy is linked to darkness,

Rest,

And cooling.

And so as you acknowledge the crown of your head,

You may like to imagine or sense yourself absorbing darkness or cooling from the moon.

You can imagine that with each inhale you gather up this darkness,

This coolness,

And with each exhale it diffuses through your body.

If you're not sitting upright and it doesn't align mentally for you to imagine absorbing this to the crown of your head,

You could imagine absorbing from a different area.

For example,

If you're lying down flat,

You may imagine yourself absorbing the coolness and the darkness through the top layer of your skin,

And as you exhale letting it diffuse and settle down to the lowest layer of your skin.

Visualizing it however you need to.

Remember that this darkness isn't a scary kind of darkness.

This darkness is linked to rest,

Like when it's night time and you've already spent the energy you needed to spend.

Now is your chance for you to tend to yourself.

Darkness that's related to maybe feeling secure,

Held,

Maybe under the covers in your bed,

Familiar darkness.

Continue to absorb,

Knowing that there's unlimited supply of this lunar energy however you wish to receive it today.

So,

As we wait for your bursts to give way to you and make its way into the air,

You Seeing if a sense of calm could wash over you.

Not forcing,

Not expecting,

But just yielding if it's possible.

Not forcing,

Not expecting,

But just yielding if it's possible.

Release any visualization and just sit with your body,

Noticing anywhere that your energy feels settled.

This may be on the whole scale of your body,

You may look at independent sections of your body,

But just noticing what it feels like or imagining what it might feel like to have your energy calm,

Soft,

Settled,

At ease.

Either feeling what's there or trying to invoke those feelings.
