This 15 minute meditation may be helpful if you’re feeling withdrawn, too introspective, stuck, depressed, or low energy. You may decide to use a tangible connection to the moon by taking this meditation outside, letting the moonlight bless you through a window or imagine this connection so please consider this as you set up and prepare for practice. We start by finding the darkest, farthest, most withdrawn region of ourselves and relate the fluctuation of our energy to the phases of the moon.

Welcome to your lunar meditation on releasing lunar energy.

If at all possible,

You may choose to let the moonlight in for this meditation,

Whether that means sitting outside under a full moon or sitting by a window where you could have the moonlight gently entering your space.

Or maybe you imagine that you are in a space where a full moon is visible,

Reachable with its energy overhead.

Take your time to get into your space and then to settle your body in a way that feels supportive to you.

Whatever position you're in,

Maybe it's possible to have a long spine.

Just begin by noticing how you're feeling as you enter this meditation.

If you are choosing to do this releasing lunar energy meditation,

Maybe you're feeling right now a little too stagnant and too low energy.

Maybe you're feeling distant or disconnected.

Maybe you're feeling withdrawn,

Too introspective.

Just notice whatever is arising personally for you,

Whether it's related to something I just mentioned or something that I have missed for you today.

And try to imagine and find the deepest place in your body,

The darkest,

Deepest little corner of your being,

The most withdrawn space.

And I want you to imagine yourself as the new moon,

Right,

Dark and empty from the sky,

Right,

Still there.

But to others,

Maybe there is this emptiness.

Or maybe even to your own self,

There is this perceived emptiness in the sky of where you should be,

All connected to this little seed at the depths of your being.

But we know that the moon doesn't just disappear,

Right?

It looks like it's gone.

But the moon goes through its phases.

Gradually the light builds and then dims and fades away again.

And then it returns and then fades and returns and fades.

Just like our energy fluctuates.

With each inhale,

Sit with that seed at the deepest part of your being,

That darkness,

That cold,

Unreachable space.

And with each exhale,

Let some of that darkness evaporate out,

Making space,

Making maybe even just the tiniest crack for light to enter.

And connecting into your own breath,

Your own rhythm,

Your own cycle.

Inhale,

Sitting with,

Recognizing and accepting the level of darkness that's there.

And then with each exhale,

Pressing the darkness a little further away.

Almost like through this little crack you're making,

You're allowing the light from the full moon to shower you,

To bathe you.

Remembering that even in lunar energy,

There's an aspect of solar energy that is the light being reflected off the moon,

Right?

It's not the moon illuminating itself.

You don't have to always be the source of light.

And this lunar light that you're letting in,

Isn't this fierce kind of light?

Lunar light is still soft,

Remembering that everything is on a spectrum and on a scale,

Right?

Lunar light is not the same as solar light.

Lunar light is there to hold you,

To comfort you.

When you're emerging from the darkness,

The light can sometimes be blinding and kind of drive us back into our own little internal cave,

Right?

But starting by accepting the solar light through this outlet of the moon is a way to hopefully soften this overwhelm that can take place.

Just remember a little light,

A little more energy,

A little more heat,

Just to gently warm yourself up to it.

If your mind wanders off or gets distracted,

Just remember that with each inhale to sit with your own darkness,

Know that it's okay.

And then with each exhale,

Make way for a little bit of light to embrace you,

A little bit of this soft lunar light.

Embracing some heaviness with each exhale,

Or whatever part of the lunar energy is feeling too heavy,

Too withdrawn,

Too much for you right now with what you need.
