Let's find a comfortable place.
Lengthening our spine a little next time we inhale.
And softening our shoulders,
Softening into our seat when we exhale.
And finding somewhere we can be still,
We can rest.
And taking a few breaths as our attention comes inwards.
Pressing pause on the external world,
Bringing the attention to our internal world.
And feeling how that feels to do that.
I'm going to relax the body a little bit first.
So starting at the crown of the head,
Imagine a wave of relaxation flowing down slowly over the body.
So the forehead,
The temples and the eyes are softening and relaxing.
The scalp,
The jaw and the neck are releasing and softening.
The neck in a neutral position,
Shoulders sliding away from the ears.
The arms and the hands,
Somewhere they can be comfortable.
The muscles of the back and the chest,
See if we can allow them to soften.
Even if we're sitting,
Allow them to fall into a neutral position.
Lower back and belly,
A little softer.
Pelvis,
Pelvic floor,
Releasing and relaxing.
The thighs,
Knees,
Lower legs,
Releasing and softening.
Ankles and feet,
Still and comfortable,
At ease.
Our body,
Feeling more comfortable,
More relaxed.
Is there anywhere still holding tension?
Maybe that place we keep our habitual tension,
Can we let it go if we notice?
So let's find some mental relaxation now.
And we're going to do this by imagining a place that we love.
We'll go there in our mind.
It doesn't really matter where it is,
Somewhere real or invented.
Let's enjoy being there.
Feel the good feelings of this place and time,
Activity,
Whatever it is.
Really reveling in what we love about it.
Feeling physically and mentally a little more relaxed.
I'm going to count now from 10 down to 1.
And as I do so,
I invite you to travel even deeper into yourself,
Into your peaceful core.
10,
9,
8.
Feeling quiet and comfortable.
7,
6,
5.
At ease and still.
4,
3,
2.
I invite you to be at peace with wherever you are now.
Imagine yourself resting,
Lying back in the arms of the living universe.
A universe in which each atom is connected,
Conscious,
Flowing with energy,
Full of energy.
And we can rest upon it because we are this living universe.
The atoms of your body and those of the space around you are not separate.
It's all connected.
Imagine the atoms all connected,
The bonds of energy as we float weightless.
A sea of energy,
Of consciousness,
Of light and love.
And as we float and rest and breathe,
Thoughts may arise and we may think of them as distractions,
Spoiling,
Spoiling our floating.
Can we allow each moment to be just as it is?
Each thought,
If it appears,
It's okay.
Just notice that they're there and so you stay relaxed.
Thoughts can be guests at your meditation party.
You don't have to be the bouncer.
And we can learn things from them.
Like,
This may be a habitual thought for me.
A worry that I run often.
Useful information.
Thank you for bringing me this information.
I will now return to floating,
Being held and supported.
Our body,
The atoms and energy that currently comprises our body,
Has consciousness also.
So how does my body consciousness feel?
Let's just ask the question and listen closely.
Maybe we brush away the answer without thinking.
Let's revisit.
If there's any bit of you that is troublesome,
That carries an injury,
Let's ask that bit of us.
What it needs.
How it feels.
And it may be something quite ordinary like rest or exercise or peace.
Let's notice.
Thank whatever we hear.
Whatever we hear.
Feeling the breath move in our body now.
Peaceful,
Comfortable breath.
Massages,
Gently rocks our body.
And the breath is where we directly interact with the living universe.
It's hard to avoid that feeling that we stop.
That there's a barrier at our skin that we don't,
That we're somehow separate.
But in our breath we know.
There is direct exchange with our environment.
So as we float in that sea of almost unimaginable energy,
Limitless energy,
Potential possibility,
You may choose to invite that in.
Let's breathe it in.
And as we breathe,
Prana,
The chi,
The universal energy,
Flows into our body.
Circulates around our body and we become luminous.
There may be some impediments to that flow of energy though.
Because our fears,
Our doubts,
Our resentments,
The things we have not yet forgiven,
Will flow,
Will cause that flow to be reduced.
As if we're closing the tap.
We may decide to open the tap again,
Increase the flow by releasing our fears,
Or a fear,
A resentment,
A blame,
A doubt,
Once again floating,
Completely supported,
Completely at one with all that is.
All is in divine right order.
If there's a voice that doubts that,
That wants to fear,
That says it's justified,
That wants to blame,
That says it's justified,
I invite you to use your imagination to imagine how it feels to release your fear,
How it feels to release your blame,
Your resentment,
To imagine that it's just as it should be right now.
That you are exactly where you need to be to take your next step.
And that too is just as it should be.
And breathing in,
Allowing in a little more universal energy,
As we allow things to be exactly as they are.
Knowing the external world is full of turmoil,
There is divine purpose even here.
It will awaken the need for peace inside many people,
Just as the peace resides within right now.
As we experience the turmoil and the madness,
The fear and the blame of the external world,
May we remember that we can release it.
Let in the energy and rest in its arms.
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you for that power.
Thank you for that freedom.
I have the power to find peace.
I have the freedom to choose energy,
Peace,
Recharging and recuperation.
A few restful breaths as we prepare to return to the external world.
Before we leave,
Noticing how we feel now.
So I'm going to count from one to five.
And we'll gradually mobilize ourselves and return to our waking state of consciousness,
With which we interact with the external world.
One,
Two.
Taking a deeper breath,
Starting to move our fingers and toes.
Three,
Four.
Having a little stretch.
Five.
Looking around,
Greeting the external world.
It's made up of energy.
Thank you for practicing with me.
