Hey there,
It's Marcella here.
If the statement,
I used my body to say no,
Makes you shudder in recognition of the ways you might have put your body in harm's way in an effort to keep yourself safe,
Let's do some EFT tapping together.
This practice will help you begin setting boundaries that actually work for you without needing to use your body or your excess weight to do your bidding.
So let's start by tapping on the outside,
The fleshy outside of either hand,
What's called the karate chop point,
And say as I say,
Do as I do.
If my words don't resonate,
Please feel free to use your own.
So tapping on the outside of the hand,
Repeat after me.
Even though I've used my body to say no,
I deeply love and accept myself.
Even though I've used my body to say no,
I deeply love and accept myself.
Even though I've used my body to say no,
I deeply love and accept myself.
Okay,
Great.
Let's go tap around the points starting on the top of the head.
I've used my body to say no.
Tapping on the inside of the eyebrow,
Right where it meets the bridge of the nose.
I've used my body to set boundaries for me.
Tapping on the side of the eye,
Maybe I gained a bunch of weight so no one could get near me.
Under the eye,
Maybe I used my body when I couldn't use my voice.
Under the nose,
I hid from others and from life inside my body.
Under the mouth,
And I feel so ashamed about it.
Collarbone,
I feel sad and frustrated and hopeless.
Under the arm,
I've used my body to do my bidding for me in all kinds of ways.
Okay,
Back up to the top of the head.
All the ways I've used my body to say no.
Eyebrow,
Unable to use my voice to say no.
Side of the eye,
Hiding from people who were trying to harm me.
Under the eye,
I couldn't speak up.
Under the nose,
It was too dangerous.
Under the mouth,
So I just used my body instead.
Collarbone,
I am so sorry.
Under the arm,
I did the best I could.
Back up to the top of the head,
And even though it's really painful to face this.
Eyebrow,
I choose as best I can today.
Side of the eye,
To face this situation without any judgment.
Under the eye,
To send love to the parts of me that needed protection.
Under the nose,
To allow this deep wound to heal.
Under the mouth,
Now that I see it,
I can take steps to heal it.
Collarbone,
I want to take a genuine stand for my genuine needs.
Back up to the top of the head,
Learn how to advocate for myself.
Eyebrow,
Let my body off the hook.
Side of the eye,
Stop hiding myself from myself.
Under the eye,
Because the truth is,
I deserve to be protected.
Under the nose,
I deserve to set the boundaries I need to protect myself.
Under the mouth,
It's okay to need protection.
Collarbone,
It's okay for me to protect myself from harmful people and situations.
Under the arm,
To protect and nurture these tender parts of myself.
Back up to the top of the head,
Final round.
I have no idea how to do this.
Eyebrow,
And I can't figure it out.
Side of the eye,
But I can love and be grateful to my body.
Under the eye,
For everything it's endured.
Under the nose,
And for all the ways it has protected me.
Under the mouth,
And I can be open to choosing a different way.
Collarbone,
Allowing this old wound to heal,
However messy the process.
Under the arm,
And taking a fresh start.
Okay,
Beautiful work.
Let's take a breath here.
And you can just shake your hands to shake it out.
Whatever intensity is building up in your body,
Just shake it out.
Take a sip of water if you've got some water handy.
And then check in with yourself here for just a moment and see how true it feels now that you're using your body to say no.
This is Marcella.
