Hello my dear,
Welcome to this practice.
This exercise offers a way to deeply reconnect.
Although it's not a traditional mindfulness practice,
You can use it to remember who you are,
Especially when you forget.
Just get yourself seated,
Sitting in a comfortable posture,
Gently closing your eyes,
And taking a few deep breaths in through your nose and breathing it out through your mouth.
Do this for a few more rounds to just help you land into this moment.
Breathing fully in and exhaling completely.
Feel yourself supported by whatever you're sitting on.
Feet on the floor,
Still maintaining this deep breathing.
Now I'd like you to imagine yourself in a difficult situation.
It may be something coming up that's bringing up some fear or anxiety,
Or something you went through in the recent past.
Just recognize any discomfort,
Worry,
Or aversion that's present as you bring this event to mind.
Maybe you want to ask for a raise.
Perhaps you need to have a difficult conversation with a loved one.
Or maybe you have an upcoming appointment that's bringing you some worry.
Rather than playing out the story in your head,
Ask yourself what the strongest version of yourself would do and how they would handle it.
Picture your strong self handling the situation with complete kindness,
Care,
Confidence,
Mindfulness,
Patience,
And wisdom.
As you visualize the situation in your mind,
Make special effort to notice the strength within you.
Allow yourself to feel empowered,
Strong,
And confident.
When you begin doubting yourself,
Return to the strong you.
Reconnect with your intentions of wisdom and compassion in the face of any difficulties or challenges.
You can continue with one experience,
Playing it through multiple times.
You can also try working with a different situation or event.
Continue to connect with the strength you have within you.
Remember to keep breathing deeply and watch for any sense of anxiety,
Worry,
Or tension.
Now it's time to start bringing this practice to a close.
Continue to connect with the strength you have within you.
And when you finish this practice,
You may try writing about your experience in your journal.
Writing after this practice gives you a crystallized look at yourself as the strong you and can help you clarify how you're able and capable to handle tough situations and experiences.
Focusing on your breath again.
Nice deep breath.
Wiggling your fingers and toes.
Gently opening your eyes and reacquainting yourself with where you're sitting.
