I'd like to invite everyone to just make yourself comfortable.

You can do this either sitting or lying down.

And once you get settled in whatever that is,

If you find something opening up,

Or perhaps the breath is allowed to be a little more free and you need to move into that,

Go ahead.

Feel free to take up all the space that your body finds is natural for itself.

So having made ourselves a little bit comfortable,

We'll just check in with how we might be in our mind.

It's natural to have some kind of mental noise,

Which can sometimes be almost in the background,

Like a sound that we don't quite notice,

Something that we've normalized in order to get through.

This might be something that we put off or something that may be simple as something that's wearing us out a little,

Like having some kind of mild cold or something.

Or it could be something very exciting as well.

Perhaps something really good is around the corner.

We're just unable to settle.

However we are,

There,

Whatever mental noise we might have,

Just acknowledge its role in our awareness,

Whatever sound that is.

And we're going to make a little bit of a departure into the substance of this moment,

Cross over a little threshold here,

Where we are going to give ourselves permission or make the request to use our awareness in an on-purpose kind of way.

And we're going to bring our awareness into something that is very immediate and right here and right now.

We're going to try and dial up our presence to that.

And so tonight we'll begin by bringing part of our awareness down into the feet.

And in this direction of presence,

To see if we can extend the depth of our awareness by noticing whatever impressions are there and noticing them a little bit longer than we might.

Perhaps in a little more detail,

Perhaps noticing the toes,

The five toes on each feet.

Perhaps to notice that there are five of them,

That it's not just a bit of webbing out at the end there.

And that there's an arch of the foot.

And the flat of the foot that extends around the side and the heel.

And in truth,

This is an incredibly intelligent part of our body.

It keeps us balancing in unbelievably rapid ways.

It sustains a balance of all of our body weight in standing and walking.

It's an incredibly intelligent part of our body.

So how is it just to be present with that?

And as we have this longer,

Perhaps deeper connection,

We can bring a sense of a wish to relax.

That sense of appreciation.

Perhaps a mental comforting as we connect perhaps to this intelligence.

Keeping that connection,

Bring a little bit more awareness now to the hands.

So now I'm directing my awareness to my feet and my hands.

And of course the hands are in many ways similar to the feet,

Incredibly intelligent,

Complicated.

And noticing what we can sense of life and space.

The impressions of the hands,

The warmth,

Perhaps moisture.

Tuning in more deeply.

And perhaps in a more sustained way.

Just for this moment.

As our hands certainly are present in the body continuously.

So perhaps our mind might be present in our hands.

Just a bit more continuously.

And in that presence perhaps this wish to soften and relax.

And then lastly,

Bringing a similar kind of awareness additionally to the head.

And perhaps if you're looking for something very simple,

Be just the eyes.

Or if you wish,

The face.

Or perhaps the face and the head as a whole.

So now I'm aware of my feet,

My hands,

And my head.

Again,

Just a little bit longer and a little bit more deeply.

And perhaps the simplest permission where possible to soften and to relax.

As we take in whatever impressions we might notice.

And as we are aware of these five places in one's own time.

To find perhaps one out-breath to follow and let it flow out a little more fully.

And to take one breath with all the supportive presence that one can.

And then we can take another breath with all the supportive presence that one can.

And then we can take another breath with all the supportive presence that one can.
