Dear Friends,
Welcome to this Evening Gratitude Reflection for Friday.
This reflection is the sixth in a series of seven.
Each one of them an invitation to notice and enjoy some of the goodness present in everyday life.
We begin by bringing yourself gently into an awareness of this evening hour.
Let's allow the busyness of the week to fall away.
Realise that the day is done.
Are almost done.
And for these moments,
In these moments,
Nothing more is calling out for attention.
And once again,
We begin by turning to the breath.
Our bread seems simple and ordinary.
But it is part of a larger pattern,
Taking in the entire world.
Our breeding is a sharing affair with trees,
Plants,
Oceans.
And with all living things.
So relax.
Breathe in and sense the freshness of the air entering your body.
Breathe out.
And imagining offering something of yourself back into the world.
Let each breath allow you to picture yourself united.
Within the great web of life on this good earth.
Let's focus on the breath for just one minute.
And notice the magic of the everyday action of breathing.
Welcome back.
This evening,
I'm grateful for the gifts of the natural world.
Whatever way they presented themselves to me today.
I'm grateful for the ground beneath my feet.
For trees and plants.
For creatures of land,
Sea and air.
I give thanks for any moment today.
But I managed to pass.
The knot is the light.
To feel the air.
Or to hear the sounds of nature around me.
When we pause to reflect like this.
We realise that none of us stands alone.
We are never truly separate from each other.
And from all that is.
I pray that I may walk more gently upon this good air.
Noticing how my actions matter.
How my choices affect the land,
The sea,
The air.
And the creatures who share this planet with me.
I'm grateful for the beauty that is freely offered to me each day.
From the wonder of a sunrise.
To the intricacy of a tiny flower.
May I never become so busy.
So distracted.
That I lose the capacity to stop.
To notice and to be amazed.
As this week begins to draw towards its end.
I rest in gratitude for the earth that holds me.
And for this day that has been given to me as a free gift.
Namaste.
