Dear friends,

Many people have requested an evening meditation to help to bring them to a place of relaxation and sleep.

People find comfort in the fact that the meditation continues long after they have fallen asleep,

So that if by chance they wake up during the night,

They can more easily turn over and resume sleeping where they left off,

All the time enjoying the continuing relaxing music.

This is one of these meditations.

The music which accompanies these words will continue on without any surprise changes in the level or the content,

Right through to the time when you wake up refreshed in the morning.

The restful music will welcome you to the light of a new day.

So let's begin.

First of all a note,

This is not a meditation for use in a chair,

Or some place where you might drift into sleep and perhaps fall over.

This is a meditation to be listened to from the comfort of your bed.

So close your eyes now,

And give thanks for the fact that the gift of this day has come to an end.

There's no need for concerns about yesterday,

And tomorrow will arrive tomorrow and can be taken care of then.

Why would we have fears about tomorrow,

When we remember that what has brought us safely here,

Will surely bring us safely onwards.

The day is done,

And for that gift we can be truly grateful.

So relax,

Close your eyes,

And before you drift into a deeper state of relaxation,

Take just 60 seconds,

To call to mind one or two things which happened today,

And for which you are grateful.

They don't have to be big things,

They can be the very ordinary everyday things,

That mean so much to us,

And where would we be without them.

Gratitude and thankfulness are the key to our happiness.

It's not that we practice gratitude just so that we feel happy.

Happiness is an after effect of a truly grateful attitude.

There is always something for which we can be grateful,

And that gratitude is a source of happiness.

So relax,

Even further,

The day is done.

Take in a deep breath,

And let it out fully with a feeling of relaxation.

Breathing in the refreshment of the night,

And breathing out with a sense of thanksgiving for the day.

As today draws to a close,

Realise that there is nothing to want,

Nothing to need.

Allow yourself to be supported by the mattress beneath you,

Supported by the ever-present gift of gravity,

As the earth moves on into night,

And on into the light of a new day.

Relax even more,

As the shadows lengthen,

And the evening comes,

And our busy world is hushed.

All you need do just now,

Is relax,

And let everything just be.

Enjoy the feelings of relaxation and gratitude,

As you drift deeper and deeper,

And deeper,

Into a place of calm,

Utter and complete calm.

May you be well.

May you be happy.

May you find rest in every passing evening.

May you find joyful moments in every new day.

Breathing in thoughts of peace and rest.

Breathing out with a sense of gratitude and thankfulness.

As has been said,

If the only prayer you ever say,

In your entire life,

Is thank you,

It is enough.

So thank you for the gift of life.

Thank you for all the benefits of life.

Thank you for the gift of relaxation and rest.

Now relax even more.

Allow yourself to drift,

Into a deeper and deeper stage,

Of calm and rest and peace.

All is well.

All is peace.

All is happiness.

Thank you again and again,

For the gift of this amazing existence.

Thank you for the gift of the day,

Now coming to a close.

Thank you for the gift of rest and sleep.

Allow yourself to drift,

Into a deeper stage of rest.

Knowing that this music,

Will accompany you,

Right through the night,

And into the morning.

Yes,

This gentle music,

Will be with you,

As you open your eyes,

To the light of a new day.

So be well.

Be peaceful.

Be happy.

Above all else,

Be happy.
