The English language, like many languages, is multi-layered. Mostly we use it literally but it is also awash with phrases called Figures of Speech. They are so embedded in our language that we use them without thinking about what they really mean. They are an example of low-level hypnotic language which helps us enter the trance state. This guided visualisation is littered with them ... by the way, that is an example of one. So relax, let your mind wonder and wander and take you to a new place.

The English language,

Like many languages,

Is multilayered.

Mostly we use it literally,

But it is also awash with phrases we call figures of speech.

They are so embedded in our language that we use them without thinking about what they really mean.

They are an example of low-level hypnotic language,

Which help us enter the trance state.

This guided visualization is littered with them.

By the way,

That is an example of one.

So relax,

Let your mind wander and wander,

And take you to a new place.

Before we begin with this playful imaginative journey,

Take a deep in-breath and breathe out fully,

Releasing all the stale air from your lungs.

So just for today,

Be a figure of speech.

Find your voice.

Speak your truth.

Sound people out.

Just for today,

Imagine if pigs could fly.

What other magic might you like in your world?

Just for today,

Watch your back.

From this perspective,

You can see where you have come from and where you might be going.

Just for today,

Reflect on your day.

Don't look back in anger.

Hold a mirror up to your life.

What do you see?

Just for today,

Find rhyme in your reasons.

After all,

It's the season to spring into action,

Avoiding distraction.

Just for today,

There's no need to go to hell and back.

Heaven is right here.

Make a little bit more of it on earth.

Just for today,

Pull yourself together.

Reconnect what's become disparate.

Bring everything under one roof.

Just for today,

Don't beat around the bush.

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Just for today,

Be a blessing in disguise.

Bring someone joy,

But don't let on.

Notice if someone does the same to you.

Just for today,

Let the cat out of the bag.

Keep no truths locked in.

Press the secrets on.

Just for today,

Let every dog have his day.

Be in service for others.

It's your turn tomorrow.

Just for today,

Speak in many tongues.

Play with double entendres.

Say not tak,

But tusen tak.

Repeat the mantra,

Monar oha.

Just for today,

Run like the wind.

Blow the cobwebs away.

Unfurl your sails.

Breeze through life.

Just for today,

See every cloud has a silver lining.

Some are even edged with gold.

Even rain laden clouds bring the essence of life.

Behind each cloud lies a ray of sunshine.

Just for today,

Let time fly.

Remember that nothing beats to the second,

But the thoughts of somebody watching the clock.

Tick tock.

Just for today,

Be away with the fairies.

Let the elves do their magic.

Be in tune with the runes.

Give love to Mother Earth.

Just for today,

Find fun in a pun.

Write that book right.

Don't be in denial.

It's a river in Egypt.

Just for today,

Sit on the fence.

See both sides.

Why not bring them together?

Just for today,

Turn right.

Write what's wrong.

Stand for your rights.

Be right on it.

Just for today,

Turn over a new leaf.

Change your internal script.

Write a new chapter.

Open a new book.

Just for today,

Leave no stone unturned.

Peer around corners.

Shine light in the shadows.

Watch out of the corner of your eyes.

And just for today,

Remember that all the world is a stage.

Smarten up your act.

Stand in the spotlight.

Find new direction.

Forget the script and just ad lib.

Make it up as you go along.

The play is about to begin.

The curtains are coming up.

Ring that starting bell.

I don’t care for clichés nor understand many of them, for they dull thought, albeit many here aren’t well known on this side of the Atlantic. Who would have thunk it? So very clever sir! Now I want to read one of your books.
