Hi,
I'm Trevor Lewis.
This talk about using a pendulum is meant to be listened to along with my other talk on asking the right questions.
Why use a pendulum?
Tools such as muscle testing or a pendulum are great ways of tapping into the innate intelligence of our body and bypass the intellect of our minds.
Our mind doesn't always give us accurate information.
Our body always does.
When you douse with a pendulum,
You are moving your body.
And as a word of warning,
If you demonstrate using a pendulum to other people,
It's going to look like you're making the pendulum move.
And for many people,
You will never convince them otherwise.
The important point here is that dousing with a pendulum helps you bypass your rational left brain and allows you to tap into your intuition through your body.
This talk is going to make much more sense to you if you have a pendulum available.
You can purchase a pendulum if you wish,
But it isn't really necessary.
You can tie a ring or a key onto the end of a piece of string or a thin chain.
It will be just as effective.
I like working with an eight inch length of string that's about 20 centimeters so that I can drape half the length over my horizontal index finger.
Some people like a shorter length so that they hold the very end hanging down from their fingers.
These are personal preferences.
Find out what works for you.
Make sure you are centered and hydrated before you start your work.
Begin by drinking a glass of water.
Then you can sit with your eyes closed,
Take a few deep breaths and connect down into the earth by imagining tree roots coming down through your legs,
Through your feet and down into the center of the earth.
Then connect up from your spine through the crown of your head up to the universe,
Source,
Spirit,
God or the divine,
Whatever you call him or her or it.
Once you've connected up,
Allow that energy from above to flow down through you into the earth and back up from the earth through you to the above.
Establish that flow and then gently come back to your body and slowly open your eyes.
Pause this talk at any time you need,
More time to practice as we go through these exercises.
So let's get started.
Hold the pendulum in one hand with your other hand palm up parallel to the floor.
Hold the pendulum over your hand and ask for movement.
Now turn your hand palm down and hold the pendulum over the back of your hand.
Ask again for movement.
You should be getting a different movement from the pendulum depending on whether your hand is palm down or palm up.
If not,
Simply ask for a different movement.
The point of this exercise is simply to get familiar with Dowsing so that you are getting different movements just by turning your hand over.
Now you can relax your second hand and just hold the pendulum in front of you.
Ask the pendulum to show you a movement for yes and then ask it to show you a movement for no.
There's no right or wrong movement just as long as you are clear about what works for you.
For me,
A circular clockwise movement means yes and a back and forth means no.
Occasionally I'll get an anti-clockwise circle which for me means absolutely yes or alternatively a side to side movement which means absolutely no.
I've even had the pendulum hold completely still with the cord just quivering.
It sounds strange because I can't manually recreate that movement even when I want to but I ended up when that happened to me interpreting that particular movement as the pendulum refusing to answer the question because the question was phrased too inappropriately for it to answer.
The point I want you to take away from this is that you will develop a relationship with your pendulum and there will come a point where you can hold it and know the answer before the moment it starts moving,
Before it's clearly moving in any particular direction.
The next stage becomes knowing the answer before there's any movement from the pendulum at all.
Like any intuitive tool,
A pendulum is like a crutch for the intuition.
We use crutches for our legs when our legs aren't working the way they should.
They can be very useful but you look kind of crazy showing up to the Olympic 200 meter hurdles with a pair of crutches.
A pendulum is a stopgap until your intuition is really working as effectively as it could be.
If you haven't already listened to my talk on answering the right questions,
Now would be the time.
If you have already listened to it,
You may still benefit from listening to it a second time.
