Begin by deciding what emotion it is that you want to have more of.
Remember a time when you had an experience of that emotion.
We'll come back to that time in just a moment.
Start by sitting comfortably,
Preferably with your eyes closed.
Start by grounding,
Visualising roots coming out through your legs,
Going deep into the earth beneath you.
I like to tie my roots round a big boulder down there,
Because it's good to stay grounded.
Next,
Connect up from the crown of your head to spirit above you,
Allowing that infinite source to flow into you,
So that you always stay connected to the ground beneath you,
And to the spirit above and around you.
Now recall that time when you experienced that emotion you want more of.
Be aware of that feeling as if it is happening for you right now.
See what you can see as you feel this emotion.
Hear what you can hear as you feel this emotion.
Notice how your body feels as you feel this emotion.
And as you notice that feeling of this emotion in your body,
Notice where the centre of that emotion is for you.
It may be in your heart,
It may be in your gut,
It may be in your abdomen,
Or somewhere else entirely.
There are no right or wrong answers.
This is only about what feels true for you.
Take your attention to that place in your body where you feel this emotion.
If this emotion had a colour,
What colour would it be?
If it had a shape,
What shape would it be?
How large would it be?
If it had a texture,
What texture would it have?
If it had a sound,
What sound would it have?
If it had something to say to you,
What would it say?
And now you can magnify that feeling of this emotion.
Does it help to make the colours brighter,
More vivid?
Does it help to make the shape a little larger?
Does it help to intensify the texture?
Does it help to make the sound a little louder?
Know that this is where you can go inside yourself to feel this emotion and to magnify that feeling.
You can come back here any time you want to.
For now,
Take a deep breath.
Let all of that go.
And just for fun,
With a smile on your face,
What would you do for fun next week if you completely and utterly embraced this emotion?
Hmm,
Yes,
Indeed.
Take another deep breath and let it go.
Open your eyes and enjoy the rest of your day knowing that you can come back to this emotion any time you like.
And you can replay this meditation any time you want to expand your repertoire of emotions.
In the meantime,
Look after yourself and,
If you can,
Look after someone else too.
Many blessings.
