Welcome to this therapist refresh meditation to ground and restore.
For this meditation I invite you,
If you're comfortable and able,
To come to standing.
Otherwise feel free to adapt from a seated or reclined posture.
And as you transition to the posture that's right for you,
Begin by accepting yourself just as you are now.
Perhaps there's some feeling of being unsettled or unbalanced or a sense of being overwhelmed or depleted.
Maybe you're caught up in your head or feel far away,
Disconnected from your body or resources.
Wherever you are,
Even if it is feeling strong and nourished,
It can help to make contact with the earth.
So now grow tall.
Feet hip width apart.
Feel your feet make contact with the ground.
Weight evenly distributed between front and back of the feet.
Firmly pressing down so that the rest of you can rise up supported by a solid foundation.
As if you are a tree with roots extending deep into the earth beneath you.
Feel the heaviness of your feet planted on the earth that can support the alignment of your body above.
Keep a soft bend in your knees,
Maybe even adding a gentle bounce.
All strong trees are also able to sway.
Now sense a string pulling your head up to the sky and rest your arms like branches comfortably at your sides,
Palms open and facing forward.
Lengthen up from both sides of your torso.
Bring your shoulder blades in and down as if they were aiming for opposite side back pockets.
Feel your heart center open as much or as little as is right for you now.
And allow your mind to sink into the body,
Simply taking in this experience of grounding.
And as you continue to feel and enjoy the support of the ground beneath you,
Perhaps you also can imagine and absorb the radiant warmth of the sun shining down from above.
See the color of the sun.
Feel the warmth of its rays against your skin,
Your tree bark.
Here and now you are supported and nourished from above and below.
In this moment you are safe and have everything you need.
Like a redwood you are strong and steady,
Securely rooted,
Well nourished,
Able to endure and adapt over time through storms or changes of seasons,
Through floods or droughts,
Through times of peace or strife.
Enjoy this pose,
Embody this resource,
Be with whatever arises and again feel the earth support you as the sun warms you.
And finally allow this experience to speak to you,
To tell you anything you need to know now.
