Welcome to this therapist refresh,
Loving kindness for therapists.
Settle into a relatively comfortable position,
Allowing that to be whatever it needs to be in this moment.
You may be seated or lying down.
Really letting your first moment of loving kindness practice to be this moment of permission,
That the body can be however it needs to be.
If you wish to,
Bring a hand to a soothing place on your body,
Perhaps your heart or your belly or someplace else.
Notice how the warmth of your hand can create some spaciousness,
And the weight of your hand can create some steadiness.
Thank you for the work that you do day in and day out.
You are a healing presence in the world.
Let's turn towards the breath a little more,
Just allowing the breath to flow freely.
Let the gentle rhythm of your breath catch your attention a bit.
Just really letting the sensory experience of the breath welcome you back home to you.
Gentle inhales and exhales,
Creating a rhythm.
We'll allow the rhythm of the breath to continue as it is,
Adding to it a wish of loving kindness for ourselves as therapists,
To sustain us and help us find comfort and meaning in our work.
May I be joyful.
May I be peaceful.
May I be present.
May I be at ease.
May I be joyful.
May I be peaceful.
May I be present.
And may I be at ease.
May I be joyful.
May I be peaceful.
May I be present.
And may I be at ease.
Continue to let these words just wash over you,
With each breath taking in this loving message to yourself.
You can stay here as long as you need to.
Whenever you are ready,
Just gently let the phrases go.
Coming back to the breath.
Orienting yourself back to the temperature and weight of your hand,
Your body on your seat,
And the sounds of the space around you.
And when you are ready,
Just gently and lovingly open your eyes.
We wish you good healing.
