Welcome to your evening gratitude journaling practice.
These prompts can be used every day to help you wrap up your day in the energy of gratitude.
We will begin with a short meditation to help you center yourself and prepare for journaling.
In our morning journaling practice,
We visualize opening the gift of a new day,
And for this end of day practice,
We will visualize wrapping the gift back up and putting a bow on it.
Have your journaling materials nearby and find a comfortable position for yourself.
You are welcome to close your eyes as we breathe together,
Or find a fixed point ahead of you to gaze upon.
Go ahead and release any breath that you are holding,
And take a deep breath in,
Exhale open mouth,
Sigh it out,
Inhale welcome in love and gratitude,
Exhale release any resistance in feelings of doubt or not-enoughness,
Inhale the expansiveness of gratitude,
Exhale resistance.
Continue to breathe in and out of your nose at your own rhythm and pace.
I invite you to picture an open gift box is sitting in front of you.
The look and wrapping of this box can be however you'd like,
It could be any color,
It could have any patterns or embellishments that you enjoy.
Choose whatever speaks to you.
This gift box represents the gift that is each new day we spend on this earth.
It contains a beautiful ball of glowing light that lights up each new day for us.
And now that we are wrapping up the day,
Imagine that you are closing up this gift box,
Safely containing this light to recharge it for another day.
Put the top or the lid of the box back on,
Lovingly wrapping it back up,
Perhaps you even tie a bow onto the top.
Thank it for all the joy and the lessons that today brought to you.
You have wrapped up the gift that is another day here on this earth,
And now it is prepared again for another day tomorrow.
Begin to step back from this gift box now,
And prepare to journal.
If your eyes were closed,
You can gently blink them a few times to open them,
And reach for your journaling materials.
We have three journal prompts this evening,
And I will read each prompt for you twice.
I will give you about one minute to journal between each one.
Of course,
If you'd like to keep journaling,
You can pause me,
Or revisit the prompts again later.
Get as comfortable and cozy as you'd like,
And let's start with our first prompt.
First,
What am I grateful for having been able to experience today?
This could be an actual event,
A feeling,
Or a situation.
Again,
What am I grateful for having been able to experience today?
This could be an actual event,
A feeling,
Or a situation.
Second,
What aspects of myself shine today that I am grateful for?
Again,
What aspects of myself shine today that I am grateful for?
And finally,
How would I like to share my joy and gratitude tomorrow with myself and or with others?
Again,
How would I like to share my joy and gratitude tomorrow with myself and or with others?
If you feel complete,
You can go ahead and step back from your journal now.
If you are in a flow and would like to keep going,
Please feel free to do so and pause me,
Or you can revisit these prompts again later.
With much love and gratitude,
I close our practice today.
I invite you to do this journaling practice as often as you would like,
And you can also try out my morning daily journaling practice,
Which is also available here on Insight Timer.
