I'm a mindfulness meditation teacher and this session is on embracing self-worth.
But before we begin I would love to acknowledge a few things.
The practices I share are rooted in ancient mindfulness traditions that originated in South and Southeast Asia and I offer them here in a trauma-informed secular way.
I also just want to remind you that this space is yours.
There's nothing you need to get right,
Nothing you need to push through.
You are in full control of your experience.
My guidance is just an invitation.
Your spirit and your body get the final say.
So now I invite you to find a comfortable seat,
Whether you're lying down,
Seated in a chair,
Seated on the floor,
Whatever works best for you.
In this session I will guide you through a process of recognizing and affirming your inherent value.
By focusing on visualization and self-acceptance,
This meditation will help you cultivate a strong sense of self-worth and appreciation for your unique qualities.
I invite you to close your eyes and take a deep breath in,
Filling your lungs completely.
Slowly exhale,
Letting go of any stress or distractions.
Allow yourself to settle into this peaceful moment.
Begin by focusing on your breath.
Notice the natural rhythm of your breathing without trying to change it.
Feel the cool air entering your nostrils as you inhale,
And the warm air leaving your nostrils as you exhale.
With each breath,
Allow yourself to become more relaxed and present.
Now bring your awareness to the concept of self-worth.
Visualize a radiant light at the center of your chest,
Symbolizing your inner value and importance.
Picture this light glowing brightly with each breath,
Radiating warmth and positivity throughout your entire being.
Feel its energy filling you up with a deep sense of worth and self-respect.
Imagine this light expanding outward,
Enveloping your entire body in a cocoon of loving energy.
Maybe you can see it dissolving any feelings of inadequacy or self-doubt,
Replacing these with a profound sense of self-acceptance and confidence.
Allow this light to comfort and reassure you,
Reinforcing the knowledge that you are deserving of all the good things in your life.
Visualize yourself in a place where you feel completely safe and at ease.
It could be a serene garden,
A cozy room,
Or any space where you feel most comfortable.
In this space,
Imagine a mirror reflecting your true self,
An individual full of potential,
Value,
And unique qualities.
Observe your reflection with kindness,
Acknowledging and appreciating all that you are.
Now maybe picture yourself standing tall and confident in front of that mirror.
Notice how your posture reflects your sense of self-worth.
Feel the pride and strength in recognizing your own value.
Allow this feeling to grow stronger with each breath,
Filling you with self-respect and assurance.
Now imagine yourself receiving and embracing compliments and positive affirmations.
Visualize these affirmations as gentle,
Encouraging words that reinforce your sense of worth.
Maybe you can see yourself absorbing these words with gratitude and openness,
Feeling their positive impact on your self-perception.
As you continue to breathe deeply,
Focus on the sensation of your self-worth growing within you.
Picture this self-worth expanding into all areas of your life,
Influencing your interactions,
Decisions,
And your experiences.
Feel how this enhanced self-worth enriches your life and supports your well-being.
Allow yourself to fully experience the feeling of self-worth,
Knowing that it is an intrinsic part of who you are.
Recognize that embracing your self-worth is a continuous journey and each moment of self-acceptance strengthens your sense of value.
I invite you to take a few more deep breaths,
Inhaling the empowering energy of your self-worth and exhaling any remaining self-doubt or negativity.
Feel the deep sense of confidence and self-respect that you've cultivated.
And when you are ready,
Gently bring your awareness back to the present moment.
Maybe you wiggle your fingers and toes and gently stretch your body,
Taking a deep breath in and as you exhale,
Opening your eyes,
Feeling refreshed,
Uplifted,
And deeply connected with the self-worth you have embraced.
