Welcome,
I'm Teresa.
If you've pressed play on this meditation,
There's a good chance the world feels like a lot right now.
For sensitive and neurodivergent nervous systems,
Life can sometimes arrive without a filter.
Sounds feel louder.
News feels heavier.
Emotions,
Both yours and other people's,
Can feel very close to the surface.
And when that happens,
It can begin to feel like you're carrying more than is yours to hold.
Nothing has gone wrong because you experience the world this way.
In many ways,
It means your nervous system is responsive,
Attuned,
Connected.
But even a responsive nervous system needs moments of rest.
Let's begin by noticing the body.
Not trying to change anything.
Just noticing.
Where are you supported right now?
The weight of your body on a chair.
The ground beneath your feet.
The place where your back meets what is holding you.
And let your awareness settle there.
A body often knows how to rest before the mind remembers.
Take a slow breath in.
And a gentle exhale.
No need to deepen it.
Just let it move.
If your shoulders feel tight,
You might imagine them dropping just a few millimeters.
That's enough.
Sensitive nervous systems often try to track everything.
Every change in tone.
Every shift in energy.
Every story of suffering.
But you are not required to carry the entire emotional landscape of the world.
Let's pause with that.
Just for a moment.
You are allowed to care without carrying everything.
You might imagine placing what you've been holding just beside you.
Not abandoning it.
Not ignoring it.
Just setting it down for a few moments.
Let your body feel the difference between holding and resting.
Notice the breath again.
And if it feels supportive,
Place one hand somewhere grounding.
Like your chest.
Or your belly.
Or resting on your thigh.
And let your body feel that contact.
A quiet reminder.
You are here.
And you are still allowed to be here,
Even now.
Nothing you feel has removed you from belonging.
Let's stay here for a few breaths.
Even in a complicated world,
Small moments of regulation matter.
Your nervous system doesn't need everything to be resolved.
It simply needs moments of support.
Moments where it can soften,
Even slightly.
Take one more slow breath.
And gently begin to notice the space around you again.
The sounds.
The air.
The steady presence of your body.
You don't have to hold the world to belong to it.
If this meditation supported you,
You're very welcome to explore my course,
Grief,
Beauty,
And Belonging.
In that course,
We gently explore how sensitive and neurodivergent nervous systems can stay open to the world without becoming overwhelmed by it.
You're welcome there whenever it feels right.
Thank you for being here with me today.
And as you return to your day,
Remember as always,
You are loved.
You are whole.
You are enough.
