Lie down,
On the floor or on your bed,
And start by becoming aware of your breath.
Try to just let it be what it is.
Just find it,
And simply observe.
Naturally,
You'll begin to get involved.
You'll start to more consciously inhale and exhale,
Maybe overthinking it a bit.
Each time you notice this,
Just simply work to step back.
Just notice yourself overthinking or trying to control the situation.
Just breathe.
Just witness and observe the breath.
When these thoughts and feelings arise,
Frustration,
The need for control,
Overthinking,
And tension,
Just simply step back and find your breath.
Now,
As you stay with your breath,
We're going to begin to move towards the awareness of the body.
A little in my left wrist,
My left foot,
My hips,
Shoulder blades,
The sides or the temples of my head.
Now,
I'm noticing this tension.
And I'm noticing it become one single tension across the body.
It's unified into one layer of tension.
See if you can find this.
Without judgment,
Just your felt sense.
I'll also notice maybe a chronic tension or clenching in my stomach,
Whether it's from stress,
Foods that cause inflammation,
Working,
Trying to make money,
Trying to not fail,
Trying to get things done,
Trying to take care of myself and my family.
There's a lot of tension that can build up there.
It's the survival mode which is turned on while you work.
It's normal to forget to breathe while you're checking your phone,
Sending an email,
Scrolling social media.
We just forget to breathe.
And years and years of this compounding can create chronic tension that we,
In fact,
Get used to and think is normal.
Sometimes we don't even notice it.
So now we're just inviting it to leave,
To dissipate,
To relax,
To let go.
Asking it to make its way on into the universe,
Elsewhere,
Outside of you.
With each breath in,
We're asking this question,
Sending this invitation.
With each breath out,
We are witnessing it do what we ask.
Thank you for listening.
