This meditation includes guidance for coming into presence, invitations to release tension in the body, and periods of spacious silence bookended by gentle reminders and repetition of the instructional mantra: Kind Eyes, Soft Body, Warm Heart. Bringing awareness to the eyes and inviting soft, kind eyes is something I learned from meditation teacher, Bodhipaksa, and it is a game-changer!

Coming now into stillness.

Accepting the invitation to simplicity.

Setting aside worries,

Concerns,

Expectations,

Like shoes left at the door when you come inside.

Saying yes to softening and kindness.

Relaxing into enoughness.

This is where we begin.

Settling into a posture that serves openness and presence.

That serves your intention for being here.

Connecting with your intention and allowing the body to take that posture.

Receiving and releasing a few deep cleansing breaths in through the nose with long smooth exhalations followed by the relief and vitality of the next breath.

Taking time to exhale completely what is no longer needed.

Now allowing the breath to resume its natural rhythm.

Circulating awareness and ease through the body.

Smooth forehead.

Kind,

Soft eyes.

Unclenched jaw and mouth.

Tongue relaxed down to its root.

Giving the throat permission to relax.

Inviting ease in the shoulders.

In the chest and belly.

Soft hands.

Having aliveness in the feet.

Kind eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

Perhaps taking this as a mantra to return to,

Kind eyes,

Soft body,

Warm heart.

Whenever you notice the mind has wandered.

Realizing the path and rhythm of the breath.

This breath that is enough just as it is.

And this one too.

Marveling at the usually unnoticed miracle of the body breathing itself.

Made visible and known through stillness and presence.

Intention.

Noticing sounds.

And the gentle rhythm of breath like a bass line beneath it all.

Holding it all together.

Witnessing the field of sound,

Sensation,

Breath.

Kind eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

Sweeping awareness through the body to any areas that may be holding tension.

Circulating kind awareness through the body.

And to any sensory impressions,

Thoughts,

Or feelings that arise.

Regarding whatever is here to be felt and witnessed and touched with the gentle breeze of this breath.

Kind soft eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

This too belongs.

There is nothing that can arise that is inherently good or bad.

Only pleasant or unpleasant.

And we bring kind awareness to that.

Keeping the visual field open even with closed eyes.

Creating an open field of awareness.

More like an ocean or a field than a stream or a path.

Plenty of room to move,

Breathe,

Be.

Inviting ease,

Softness,

And kindness again and again.

Kind eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

Kind eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

Meeting whatever arises in the mind.

Noticing when the body or mind recoils,

Constricts,

Tenses,

Resists what arises.

And opening and softening again and again,

Meeting the moment and all its experiences and sensations with kind soft eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Noticing the difference a kind of meeting whatever is here as an ocean,

Clear sky,

Vast open field.

Saying yes to this precious opportunity to experience your being as a container of spaciousness.

Emptied of the usual stuff that gets in the way of simple,

Perfect,

Open presence.

Allowing this moment to be enough without adding anything to it.

Sitting in a posture that supports freedom.

Kind eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Kind eyes.

Soft body.

Warm heart.

Inviting the tense areas to soften again and again.

Every moment of remembering to soften and breathe is the whole point.

And at the same time,

Not the goal.

For there is no goal here in this oasis of simply being.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Here,

This moment is complete.

You are complete.

Touching the natural spontaneity and expansiveness of the mind and this moment.

Noticing but not trying to follow the breath,

Sound,

Thought.

Not drilling down or narrowing awareness.

Opening out of and beyond all trying and striving.

Not trying to hold on or to remember.

For now,

While sitting here,

Giving yourself permission to let go.

Unclenching mind,

Body,

Hands.

Like releasing a balloon from your grip and letting it float away.

Neither identified with it nor wanting to possess it.

Allowing it to float away with kind eyes,

Soft body,

Warm heart.

Noticing the difference a kind soft gaze makes.

Noticing but not trying to follow the breath,

Sound,

Thought.

Noticing but not trying to follow the breath,

Soft body,

Warm heart.

Noticing but not trying to follow the breath,

Soft body,

Warm heart.

Noticing but not trying to follow the breath,

Soft body,

Warm heart.

Returning to what is unconditioned.

Returning home to what and who.

You really are.

Undoing,

Simplifying,

Allowing.

Remembering to breathe.

Softening and opening again and again.

Kind eyes,

Soft body,

Warm heart.

Breathing in the enoughness of this moment,

Which includes you.

Noticing in enoughness and carrying it into your day.

Remembering and returning both on and off the meditation quotient with no clear-cut distinction between where meditation begins and ends.

Noticing but not trying to follow the breath,

Soft body,

Warm heart.

Nice sparse space between instructions. Good reminders. Leaves me with a calm and pleasant feeling, although that shouldn't be my or anyone's goal to meditate.
